Recommended: The hotel is clean, modern, full-service, and in keeping with expectations for a four-star hotel. The rooms are decent-sized and newly furnished. I found the staff courteous and helpful. I had only one small problem: They do not provide an iron in the room. Maybe this is normal in Europe, but I would have expected one in a similar hotel in the US. Recommended: This hotel is prefectly situated. It's a 5 minute walk from the Guggenheim. All you have to do is walk across the bridge and you are there. Along the bridge is a trail that is great for walking along at night. The hotel is also only 3-4 blocks away from a grocery store, ATMs, restaurants, etc. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: The Abando in Bilbao is a nice place to stay. If we go back to Bilbao, we will consider staying there again, depending on the hotel room deals available at the time we book... Very near old town area. Walking distance to Guggenheim. Hotel room very comfortable. Breakfast tolerable, but nothing to write home about - small dining room - coffee was warm (not hot) all 3 days we were there. Appears they do a lot of local business - wedding and parties. Recommended: The decor is fantastic. The staff was very helpful and attentive. A short walk to the Guggengheim from a quiet street. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anybody considering visiting the city. The price was also very good for the quality received, specially compared to anyother American chain. Not recommended: Woman at the front desk checking us in was incredibly cold. The room we received was not what we reserved. The rooms require a hotel key to turn on the lights and air conditioning. This is fine if anyone would have explained how this works. Walking around a dark room patting the walls isn't the solution.
