“Well above average standard of service”

It is rare to receive the level of pro-active service offered by the Apollo Hotel. From the Reception desk to the restaurant staff, everyone went out of their way to 'delight the customer'

“Absolute bargain even if the service was painfully slow”

My partner was in Birmingham on business & we decided I should join him & turn it into a "dirty weekend away". I can assure you there was nothing dirty about our stay! The room was spotless, especially the bathroom. It doesn't look anything special from the outside, but it was an absolute bargain! It's walking distance from town, and has loads of free parking. The only thing I'd complain about is that service at reception & the bar was slow, to put it mildly. We waited about 15 mins for someone to appear to serve us, and a chap had been waiting for approx 5 mins when we arrived. The lesson we learnt from this was not to use the hotel bar. Simple, really. I'd highly recommend it especially if you can get it for the sort of price we paid.

“Cheap and cheerful”

The hotel has seen better days and the mattresses were a bit tired but, hey, what do you expect for the bargain price? It was friendly, very efficient and is great value. Good and generous breakfasts and ample free parking were added bonuses. Our 3 bed family room was particularly good value. It's not the Ritz but more fun than a boring Premier Lodge and we'd thoroughly recommend it if you are on a budget. We'd go again.

“Good Breakfast, bit far from central”

If you do not drive, I dont recommand this hotel as it takes 15-20 mins walk from the SNOW HILL station, not any of the Birmingham station. Otherwise, you can take a taxi from Birmingham New station to there costs 7.5pounds Despite the location, service is good, room size is bigger than expected (I had a room for 3 adults), the hot English Breakfast is nice, I cant remember how much i paid for that but it was reasonable. As my room is on the top floor, i need to take the stairs up as the lift only goes to the 3rd floor.

“Good value for 2 or 3 nights”

The staff were probably the friendliest and most helpfull I have met in some time and I say in hotels at least 10 day a month. The biggest down side was the food - very poor, but the service, again was great. Not a problem really - plenty of good places to eat within easy walking distance.

“You get more than you pay for!”

This is a good value hotel given it's location. It's not the smartest, nor somewhere that you would want to spend large amounts of time, but it's functional and does what it says on the tin.

“Fine Digs, Need To Get Their Act Together”

Small, but clean, comfortable room. Bathroom without heat, but only an annoyance. Walkable to city center. Great breakfast buffet. Expensive Wi-Fi. The front desk clerk only had me booked for one night, but I thought we resolved it at check-in. Maid burst in the next day and told me I should've checked out by Noon. I explain. Next day my key card didn't work and the same clerk renews it. Next day, another guest unlocked my door and tried to unlatch the chain. I explained, but he wanted me to accompany him to front desk. I called the front desk instead, explained again to the same clerk and then again to the guest. He refused to leave, but I locked the chain latch and walked into the bathroom. While in the bathroom, door opened again, caught by latch. Angrily, I opened the door to find the front desk clerk quizzing me about who I am. The next day, my key card didn't work...again.
