“Better than expected”
It's a Comfort Inn near the airport in Birmingham so I went with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the room. Not fancy but clean with nice sheets and decent pillows - nicer than you should expect at this sort of place. So it deserves more than a rating of a "2" and hence my taking the time to write this. I'll stay there next year too in fact.
“bring your own lock”
i was placed on the bottom floor at the end next to the stairwell and outside exit. the door to the outside had a keyed lockpad ,but it was broken and anyone from the street could simply walk in and either go upstairs unseen or enter the firstfloor hallway of which my room was the first door on the right. the screws on my front door were loose as if someone had pried open the door so i assume this had happened before. i carry a pistol and kept it at my bedside in case i heard someone at night. other than this the room was clean and i had no problems with the T.V. or bathroom. before you check-in ,walk to the lower exits and see if you can enter without a key ,if you can ,don't stay.
