Good hotel

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Good position in central Birmingham. Hotel car park under cover and with barrier Restaurant
Location: Short walk to Birmingham New Street Station Symphony Hall a stone's throw away Close to shopping and eating options
Pleasant stay. Quiet although close to traffic - windows had secondary glazing which cut out most exterior sound.

Convenient location but needing investment.

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Close to the centre of Birmingham - everything easily in walking distance.
Cons: Starting to look shabby in parts.
Poor quality pillows. Stand alone air cooling machine unable to cool the room unless on maximum and then becomes too noisy.

Holiday/birthday celebrations with 'the girls'

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Central and easy to get to.
Cons: Some of the de core is looking a little tired. But apart from that, all good.
Location: As I said, central to everything. We went to the 'Jam House' and was only a short taxi ride, or walk.
We had a lovely stay in Birmingham. I have stayed at the Copthorne before and that is why I recommended it. It's central to everything and a short walk to most places. We all had an excellent stay and would definitely recommend to anyone else going to Birmingham.

Adequate hotel in a convenient location

Posted May 19, 2014
I've stayed 2 nights at the Copthorne in the last 2 weeks, which I had chosen largely because of location. The first resulted in a very poor night's sleep, as the room faced over a bar (The Yardbird) which had live music until around 2pm. The room did not have a sound screen (unlike those on the other side of the hotel) and was overly warm, due to a radiator being on much of the night; so I needed the window open. For the second visit, I requested a room over the road (front of the hotel). Unfortunately I had to move rooms due to absence of power to the television. Overall, the hotel is in need of some renovation (holes in carpets etc) but service is fine and the location is great. However, I have had better experiences - and better facilities such as free WiFi - from more basic, budget hotels in central Birmingham.

A City Break With Friends

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Central location, clean, friendly staff, good value for money, facility for storing luggage on checkout day.
Cons: Chargeable internet access is a disadvantage in this day and age. Should be free. A turn off for business users but not critical for us.
Location: Museum, canal walks, new library, conference centre, cathedral, bars & restaurants, Jewellery Quarter
After a train journey from Leeds we were ready to see the sights and feel our way around an unfamiliar city. We were pleased that we had chosen an hotel which was central and not too far from New Street station. Check in was easy and we were made aware of the hotel facilities by the helpful staff.

Overnight stay

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Position
Cons: Decor, just a little tired looking, nothing too awful
Location: Bullring and New Street shopping, Canalside close to NIA, Symphony Centre and ICC all minutes away plus Broad Street with restaurants, clubs and bars.
Hotel was nice, friendly staff generally, helpfully locked bikes away for us in a safe room. Good bar area, live football on big screen. Room a reasonable size, quite well equipped. Bathroom fine. All a little dated and could do with a makeover if I'm honest but nothing awful. TV didn't seem to work but hardly in room so it wasn't a problem. Brilliantly situated, very close to ICC so short walk to main shopping area, to the New St station, to the NIA and the lovely canalside area close to it. Parking underneath hotel, £12/24 hrs, handy and not too extortionate. We went to Wetherspoons just outside hotel for breakfast but were told a voucher for £7.95 could be obtained from Reception for hotel buffet breakfast, open til 11 on the Sunday which sounded good value for a city centre hotel. All in all, would stay again.

Good location.

Pros: The price.
Cons: Change the room decor, it is dated. Material on chair in room was worn. Have free Wi-Fi ..... did not use because there was a charge throughout hotel.
Location: Good location. New modern library 2 min walk. Close to museums, art gallery, bars, restaurants and shops. 10 min walk to New Street rail station.
Good experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Foyer, bar and restaurant were fine.
