Out of the way location but worth the effortPosted Dec 18, 2014
Pros: Nice room and comfortable bed.
Location: Location was slightly out of the way.
Got in late so had a short stay. Found the staff at check-in to be pleasant and very helpful when I had a problem with my television (he came to the room immediately to fix). The room was very nice and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast items left a lot to be desired (not as good as some other Country Inn & Suites I've stayed in) but was better than some places I've stayed.

Room location disappointingPosted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: hotel staff, breakfast, front sitting room....and a library
Cons: curtains that close for privacy and block out lights shining in (especially certain rooms). Check spots, stains on furniture--make sure they are clean.
Location: Birmingham, Al (not familiar with area--there for business)
The curtains were not closable and the sheers were too sheer. There was a bright light right outside the window shining in my face all night.(this gave no privacy either) We were right next to the elevator and it was very noisy so I didn't get much sleep after an exausting day of travel. The room was made up nice and looked overall well but the sofa had old stains and something crusty on it that made you not sure you wanted to sit it. If things like that were addressed it has the potential to be a nice place to stay. The breakfast was pretty good with several choices and the hotel staff was very nice.

Good but could stand some improvement.Posted Nov 19, 2014
The quality physical layout of this hotel facility was what I expected for Country Inns (nice building, large comfortable rooms, fitness center, etc.). However, small details were lacking on this stay. Map of area not available at front desk. No HBO program guide in room. Scrambled eggs each morning were dry and tasteless. English muffins were all very stale on the first morning (better after that). Water pressure in shower was much too intense, and could not be lessened to a comfortable setting.

Fairly adequate but stained mattress pad-yuk!Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: Chocolate chip cookies upon arrival which I later noticed but was not told about initially. Great cookies!
Cons: Regular bleaching of mattress pad! Otherwise linens were o.k.
Location: Location was convenient within a few miles of the weekend destination.
The hotel was a little troublesome to find as other hotels in the area were clearly marked but Country Inn & Suites by Carlson was the last one around the bend without a sign until you were almost on top of it. Facilities were adequate, but the stained mattress pad was most unpleasant. The location was challenging with a high school next door with a football game ongoing on a Friday night.

Central LocationPosted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: I really like the convenience of having breakfast at the hotel. Very good choices of breakfast items both mornings and very well prepared.
Location: It was close to a variety of restaurants and shopping and convenient to the major highways.
Visiting friends for a couple of days and had a great time.
