“It seemed that the cleaning crew was off that Sunday”
We always try to stay at Embassy Suites when available. This hotel is nice and comfortable as expected but it seemed that the cleaning crew was off that Sunday (11/27/11) lobby and floors were not cleaned/picked up from the night before. The rest of the hotel crew did not seem to care either.
“Very nice amenities, but no free wireless as advertised!”
The manager's special was nice, but the breakfast buffet was great! The only thing to complain about was the fact that "free wireless" was for their silver and gold HHonors members (i.e., frequent users of their hotel chain). At least the business center was free, so I could use their computers to check email. I really liked this hotel and will stay there again if I return to Birmingham, AL.
“Perfect place to stay without a rental car!”
I recently stayed here for a trade show at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center. The shuttle picked us up at the airport (only 15 min wait after initial call) and the next two morning we scheduled the shuttle to take us to the convention center. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, breakfast was exceptional and the manager's reception was a special treat! The beds were comfortable and a standard room was very spacious with a microwave and refrigerator. I will stay there again!
“Nicest hotel I've ever been in.”
Atrium was beautiful. Open bar from 5:30-7:30, Denny's/Ihop quality breakfast buffet with omelettes to order. Super comfortable bed. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I've stayed in more expensive hotels, but none come close to Embassy Suites. This is the 3rd Embassy Suites I've stayed in, and they continue to impress me!
“Wonderful hotel in a beautiful city”
The hotel is in a lovely wooded neighborhood just a few minutes from downtown Birmingham. My suite had a great view of the mountain and was perfectly maintained. All of the hotel employees were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the housekeeping staff.
“Disappointed”
I was disappointed in my last stay at Embassy Suites. I have stayed there many times through the years and always had a pleasant experience. This time I found the public bathrooms in poor condition, no toilet paper, paper towels etc. There was inadequate silverware, plates, etc at breakfast and seemed generally unprepared for breakfast. Long lines and took more time than usual to clean off tables. A lot of people waiting for clean tables. Not sure if they were understaffed or new management or what. I plan on staying at a different hotel next time I am in B'ham.
“Great Manager's Reception and Breakfast”
My fiance and I stayed here in Feb 2011. The room was spacious and clean. This hotel has a manager's reception each night where they serve drinks and snacks. Just leave a tip when you go to get drinks and you can go up as many times as you like and even take your drinks up to your room with you. They were very generous with the amount of alcohol in the drinks, although it was bottom shelf brands. The cooked-to-order breakfast was great. All I needed was an omelet made my way and it was a great start for the morning. We also enjoyed the hotel's Ruth's Chris Restaurant...our first time there and it was Superb!
“Wonderful”
I will stay at this hotel anytime I'm in Birmingham.
“This hotel has certainly gone down hill!”
The lobby and the public areas were clean. Our room was a step above filthy. Dirty room service dishes were left for days in front of the rooms. Apparently the housekeeping staff does not pick them up. There was a roach in our bathroom. My husband and I were staying here at this hotel when it was a Sterling Suites (since 1995), and he was always great. After Embassy took it over it wasn't as good, but was at least clean. One bright spot is the Ruth Cris Steakhouse. It was immaculate and the food was up to it's usual excellent standards.
“Love it”
the suites are very nice and roomy. the bed very comfortable. very clean and well maintained room and common areas. breakfast is wonderful!
