Pros: The complimentary breakfast and free parking
Cons: The lighting in the "living area" was very dim in the room I had.
Location: It is in close proximity (1.4 miles) to the Five Points area and downtown.
It is a nice hotel with a satisfying complimentary breakfast. The breakfast staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

Comfortable room

A good stay. Staff a bit overwhelmed at times. Hard to get help at front desk.

This hotel is rundown and very dated.

Posted Jun 1, 2015
This Embassy Suites needs to be spruced up and redecorated. It's overall shabby, and appears to be frequented by people who love to party. We were asked to sign the hotel's "eviction policy" which gave the hotel the right to evict us for any reason. Evidently, this hotel has been used by guests who bring in more people that the occupancy rules allow, and they hold parties in their rooms. Not the kind of ambiance we like at all. Stayed two nights, and at 5 p.m. of the second day, our room had still not been made up. There were not enough towels or toiletries (bath gel, shampoo, etc.), nor was the coffee maker restocked. The bathroom sink was clogged, and our suite just wasn't clean. Wouldn't stay there again.

It was ok

For $200 or more per night you would think they could afford to put wash cloths in the bathroom. The couch was uncomfortable as was the sofa bed. The pool was disgusting and the area around the pool looked to be crumbling. It wasn't horrible but for that much money it could be much better.

There was too much humidity in the room and housekeeping did not replace the condiments for coffee. I asked for no decaf, just regular, which she did, but she did not replenish the sweetener or the stirrer. The staff at the front desk was especially helpful and considerate. The breakfast was very good, except the it was difficult to figure out how to get the correct setting for the toaster. The bread came out just dried.

Great Hotel Room and Staff

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: The room was huge and very clean
Cons: The room service Cheesecake was a joke, 10.00 and it was big but was supposed to have berries and had like 6 drops of what looked like blood, ugh
Location: The Zoo is right there
Best pillows ever! The balcony is a little misleading but it really does open and is big enough to stand out side and lean on the railing. The breakfast is out of this world for a freebie. I will definately stay here next time Birmingham and also I should mention it is right off the freeway so that os a big plus.

Nice hotel - centrally located

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: The breakfast was outstanding. The staff was attentive and courteous at all times.
Cons: Ensuring the room is cooled prior to guest approval, and that the window is opened to get rid of that hotel chemical cleaning smell
Location: Did not do a lot of site seeing as the visit was taken up by family activities and the graduation activites
The only issue I found was room comfort. The room was cool as long as the air fans were blowing. Immediately after stopping, the room started to get hot. I had to drop the thermostat down to below 60 degrees.

Still a great hotel in a beautiful setting.

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: The location, the friendly staff, the omelet chef.
Cons: The rooms need to be updated eventually.
Location: Call a taxi (don't drive!) and go to the excellent restaurants in and around 5 Points South.
This property is showing its age and probably needs a renovation, but it is still a great place to stay in Birmingham. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are big and quiet and clean. There is a nice bar and a restaurant, and the breakfast is always very good. The location is perfect: close to downtown but just far enough away to be peaceful.
