Overall it was exactly what we needed.

Posted Mar 16, 2015 on Hotels
Bathroom was kinda dingy and shower curtain was always clinging to me in the shower. Most hotels have one of those curved bars to help with that. Room was pretty clean but the carpets were just old so it felt dirty. Overall the staff was really nice and it's located within walking distance of anything you could possibly need. Liquor store and fast food on the block, and some restraints across the highway.

Thank you for your recent review of your stay. Your comments in regards to my staff are much appreciated; yet, I was disheartened to read that you experienced cleanliness issues in your room. I discussed your comments with the team, and we are making sure that all of our rooms are thoroughly cleaned before guest arrivals. Also, I will be discussing with our maintenance staff about putting some new shower rods in our bathrooms. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. I do hope that you will return to our hotel, or any of our other brand locations across the U.S. and Canada in the future.

Couldn't even stay

Posted Mar 15, 2015
We were cleared for kate check-in, except no one was in the locked office and the lobby was only accessible to guests with keys. Waited for about 30 minutes and had to go find another hotel.

I received a copy of your review, and wanted to take a moment to personally respond. I am sorry to hear that your check-in time was longer than usual. I sincerely apologize if our lobby hours were not mentioned to you when you made the reservation online. We close at 11:00pm and we have a Night Laundry Attendant who is on duty from 11:00pm to 7:00am. We also have a phone outside the main entrance door and in the lobby where you can call our staff member if you are in need of assistance. In response to your feedback, I am making sure our Night Laundry Attendant is making nightly rounds every thirty minutes to make sure no one is waiting outside to check-in or locked out of their rooms. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. We would love to have another chance to provide you with a better experience at our hotel the next time you're in town.

Worst hotel we have ever seen.. We checked in and they gave us a room which was not prepared for guests.. everything was scattered and we thought that we entered a wrong room.. afterwords they gave us another smaller room though we booked a suite but they told us this was the last room in the hotel The breakfast is awful

I appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. We strive to provide guests with all the comforts of home, so I am disappointed to hear that you encountered cleanliness and service issues during your stay. In response to your feedback, I am retraining our night staff to make sure they are looking at the right reports with vacant clean rooms and out of service rooms to ensure that this mistake does not happen again in the future. Thanks to your feedback, we can continue to work on providing an exceptional stay for all of our guests. We would love to have another chance to provide you with a better experience the next time you're in town.

Not ideal for a one night stay.

Posted Feb 24, 2015 on Hotels
Location was good. Not ideal for a one night stay, because the motel caters to extended stay. It appeared as if some folks may actually be living there. Even though there was a full kitchen, there was absolutely nothing in the kitchen cabinets. For me, a major drawback was the lack of an elevator, which meant carrying all my stuff up 2 flights of stairs. Since I have 2 metal hips, this was a bit of a chore, although my heaviest item was carried one flight by a staff person. It was reasonably priced and the bed was comfortable.

I appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. We strive to provide guests with all the comforts of home, so I am disappointed to hear that there were maintenance issues during your stay with us. To make sure this doesn't happen again, I am making sure that we are telling guests about not having an elevator and to also make it's listed on our website. Regarding our kitchen equipment, Extended Stay no longer keeps dishes in guest rooms for sanitary purposes. Upon check-in, guests should be notified that they can request the dishes they need and the front desk staff will bring them to the room. I sincerely apologize that this was not explained to you during check-in and that you had to carry the dishes yourself. We continually work to improve our hotel, so I really appreciate you providing us with your feedback. Thank you for choosing Extended Stay Hotels. We hope we have the opportunity to see you again in the future.

Good hotel, great area, needs better management

Posted Feb 23, 2015 on Hotels
Kind of weird. While I was on the plane coming down to Birmingham, they left a message on my machine that they were overbooked and were canceling my reservation. No offer for another hotel or anything, just that they were going to refund my money. This was at about 5:00 PM on the day of the stay and completely unacceptable. BTW, I booked it as a non-refundable fare, so if I had canceled, they would have kept my money. At any rate, I called them and they said there was nothing they could do, to which I told them that I would take this issue all the way up the chain to the president of the company if needed. I had send a package there, so I went to pick it up and deal with the issue live. When I got there, they magically found a room available for me. It turns out that since I booked it on Hotels.com, they likely felt they could make more money from someone coming in off the street, so they wanted me out. Completely unacceptable. If you don't want Hotel.com business, don't list the hotel. If you do want the business, take the good and the bad. Oh well, it all worked out. The area is great, the room itself was very clean, but a little spartan. Also, the breakfast was fine for free. The other weird thing is that it had a small kitchenette, but did not include any plates, cups or silverware. you have to ask for them at the front desk, which was fine, but just kind of weird.

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review of your experience with us. We appreciate the kind comments about your stay and room; however, we apologize for the reservation and service issues you experienced. To prevent this from happening again, our staff is making sure that they are blocking the correct rooms with the third party website reservations . We continually work to improve our hotel, so I really appreciate you providing us with your feedback. I do hope that you will return to our hotel, or any other Extended Stay Hotels location in the future.

Don't bother, many others for the same price

Posted Feb 17, 2015 on Hotels
Won't stay again. Not handicap friendly. I blew out my knee in a recent car accident and waiting to get surgery. No elevators, so had to make multiple trips from the 3rd floor down which was very difficult. Very limited parking places in the front of the building, had to part in the back and didn't feel safe about walking around the building to the front (no back door). Used a side door (which consisted of even more stairs), not a good feeling at all. I was told that there would be no room service i.e. cleaning, towel change, etc unless you stayed 8 days or more (I stayed 4). There is a fridge, stove, and many EMPTY cabinets and drawers in the kitchen that are useless. There are no dishes, silverware, dish cloth, nothing, not even the basic hotel coffee pot. If you wanted a simple box of tissue or toilet paper you had to go down to get it. Of course no pool, etc

Thank you for providing us with details about your stay. We strive to provide guests with all the comforts of home, so I am disappointed to hear that you had an unpleasant experience. I apologize that we were unable to honor your request for a handicap accessible room. I will be speaking with my staff on how to better honor guest room requests. We provide housekeeping services to guests staying eight or more nights; however, these services are always available upon request for an additional fee. Regarding the dishes, we do not leave kitchen equipment in guest rooms for sanitary purposes. Upon check-in, we notify all guests that we have a customizable package of dishes and utensils. Once we are notified that our guest requires certain items, it is our responsibility to deliver them to your room. I apologize that you had to come and collect the dishes from the front desk yourself. I discussed your comments with the team, and we are making sure that we are giving out the right information when guests call or check-in as well as better communicating our policies. Your feedback is very important to us, so thank you for sharing. We would love to have another chance to provide you with a better experience at our hotel the next time you're in town.
