“nice people, no heater... Not recommended!!!”
I had to spend the night in Birmingham for an interview. I arrived to the hotel close to midnight, staff was nice. Got a room facing the highway, with a heater that didn't do it's job at all. By the time I realised this, it was too late to request for a change of room. So I had a cold, noisy night... Good part was the included breakfast, but to get it I had to walk outside of my room, as the buildings were not connected, and the weather was not the nicest for a walk... Another good part... but really good for this time, is that the room was clean, smelled fresh. One more negative thing: by 10am the only kind of water I could get running from the focet was ice cold. I was lucky to take my shower earlier. If I knew how it was, I would have stayed somewhere else.
“okay for a place to sleep”
continental breakfast included 6-10 am. . . . . at 8 am they were out of milk , cream cheese and orange juice, only one bagel left, toast was avail. and cereal (but remember, no milk), a few muffins left.--I was quite disappointed. In the room was a dirty wash cloth hanging over the shower curtain rod. We had 3 rooms for our family--in separate buildings! It was okay to sleep for the night, quiet and close to the interstate for travel.
“Would not go back”
Need work
“Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in.”
This hotel had a lounge in it that was not advertised and it was a nightmare. I had drunks knocking on the door all night and there was no where to park for the guests since people were coming to the lounge. I did not feel safe at all. My phone in the room did not work and the room was dirty and I couldn't even close the curtains all the way without locating a safety pin to pin them shut. I will never stay in this hotel again and I make this trip every 6 weeks. I will let everyone I know that they should never stay there. I was actually scared to be staying there. I think I should get some type of credit for the poor conditions. The continental breakfast was stale and old. Very, very bad experience.
“Not Impressed won't go back”
I had called motel before booking to make sure my friend could check in before me. That didn't go well so I complained, the management wouldn't even listen just got argumentative. It was the worst experience of my life. We stayed there because it was close to University of Alabama Hospital. So all that stress didn't help the situation. The breakfast was small hardly anything to choose from. Employees took up most of the breakfast area. Also had to call because of party next door when more then half of motel was vaccant but they put them right next door to us. I was told by an employee they were targeting me because there was someone with my same name targeting motels and scamming them. But that is still no reason to treat me like crap.
“Not Impressed”
Hotel was decently priced, but for a female traveling alone it was creepy, poorly lit, and the other rooms appeared to be primarily vacant, thereby adding to the creepy factor. The room was clean, but outdated. Free internet was a plus. Good location, close to the medical center.
“There are better choices in Birmingham-”
An aged facility in need of updating. Our room faced the Interstate and was very noisy all night long. We asked for a no smoking room, but the room we were given had an ash tray in it, smelled faintly of smoke, and had cigarette burn marks around the sink rim and on the top of the microwave. The strong bleach odor covered the smoke smell mostly. The phone in the room did not work either- The only thing good to say about the place is that the bed was comfortable (and showed no sign of bed bugs) and the room was as clean as an old room could be. Probably will not stay here again.
“No Ho Jo”
Customer service is not a high priority at this hotel. I chose this hotel because the ones we normally stay in were all full. I read the reviews on the hotel, and went ahead and booked the room through Expedia, even though there were some negative reviews. I thought I would give Ho Jo the benefit of the doubt. BAD CHOICE! All I asked for was an extra blanket! They DON'T PROVIDE EXTRA BLANKETS, AT ALL! Do yourself a favor, and choose one of the better rated hotels in the area. There are at least two, if not more.
“Clean, comfortable and exceed the expectations for the price”
The price was right and the service was better
“Would recommend to others”
Hotel was exactly as described online. The staff was more than accomodating at check in as there was a large group of us staying tor a football game. I was thoroughly impressed and would definitely stay again if ever in the area.
