DissappointingPosted Apr 26, 2013
Very dissappointing not up to the normal Malmaison standard. Check in was slow. Hard bed and room was not quiet. Will find alterntive accomadation when next in Birmingham.

Ok for a few days in town for workPosted Feb 12, 2013
Pros: Close proximity to train station
Cons: Nasty stains, lumpy bed
Location: At the Mailbox, short walk from train station
Very nice staff - from the front desk, to the bar to the restaurant, everyone was helpful & friendly. the location is great - close to the train station, and at the Mailbox shopping center and at the edge of the canal with all the fun restaurants. The shower was great, and there is even hair conditioner. BUT this hotel markets to a 20s to 30s couples / getaway crowd more than to a business clientele. Therefore, the rooms are used more, I think, by couples. In my room, there was a very dubious stain on the chair, regular stains on the carpet, red wine stains on the wall next to the bed (accident to knock it over, shame on the hotel for not addressing it), and something that looked like dried puke in the grooves of the phone next to the bed. Speaking of the bed - the sheets & bedding look soft & comfy, but when I plopped down, the bed was hard & lumpy. This was from being used & slept on a lot, not a bed that was meant to be hard.

Conveniently centralPosted Jul 19, 2012
Pros: Breakfast in basket
Cons: That room not been checked properly
Location: Convenient but a bit soulless
This is a slightly more 'ordinary' Malmasion as it is in a modern building and so lacks some of the original style of other sites but the rooms and particularly the beds were very comfortable and bathroom roomy. There was a dirty drawer - something had been spilt some time ago and never cleaned - and a bulb had gone in one of the bedside lamps so a bit disappointing. In room breakfast was lovely - one more than enough for two and nice to find real coffee and a selection of teas with the kettle. There is no parking so the on site parking is expensive but next door to the hotel so at least close by. It is a short walk to central Birminham and Brindley Place and canal area.

Shopping Break in Central BirminghamPosted Dec 22, 2011
Pros: Cattering and Spa
Cons: Can be noisey (Fellow "Guests")
Location: Well posoitioned for rail, bus and car parks
Well positioned within walking distance of the town centre / Bull ring / Mainline Railway station. Excellent service, good clean room with plenty of space. Food was excellent - despite the numbers of guests staying during our pre Christmas break. Car park adjacent - but dont use as expensive - use the large Council run facility over the road!.

Not impressed with hotels that allow dogs to stay in guests rooms, when dogs bark all night longPosted Sep 8, 2011
The Hotel was a nice surprise at first and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, what I was NOT made aware of is the Hotel allows guests to bring their dogs. Unfortunately, i was near one such selfish guest who was unable to keep her two dogs from barking until midnight. I was in a suite on the top floor, and do nt expect to be next to a kennel. Perhaps the Hotel should restrict the dogs and their owners to one floor in the hotel of like minded people. The other problem I found was the Housecleaning "forgot" to make-up my room. Rather odd???

DisappointingPosted Aug 6, 2007
Room was smelly. Welcome at check-in was good and hotel location excellent. Couldn't get appointment in spa at all so book well in advance of your stay if you want to use it. Food in restaurant disappointing.

Room is in need of cleaning/redecorationPosted Jun 1, 2007
Nice large room (one bed suite), spoiled by wine stains on floor, cigarette burn on sofa, mildew in shower cubicle and two bulbs not working. Staff were friendly and room service was reasonable priced and decent quality.

Great hotelPosted Apr 28, 2007
The check in was friendly and helpfull, the room was large and extremly well appointed. We had drinks in the busy bar before having an excellent three course meal and great bottle of wine. After an equally fab nights sleep the breakfast was also of great quality. Worth a visit!!
