“Cheap and cheerful”

Having paid a low price for my room (about 30% of the rack rate) I felt the hotel gave good value for money. My one complaint was cleanliness: the window surrounds in particular were filthy. The main room and bathroom had been cleaned fairly well but it is all looking rather tired and frayed around the edges. I had an evening meal in the restaurant which was much better than I had anticipated. To balance that, breakfast was very poor with the hot food having been subjected to a lengthy dehydration by heat process rather than cooked. If you want a comfortable bed in a quiet location and can get a good price this hotel is fine.

“Getting What You Pay For”

The internet and other glizy advertising do this hotel MORE than justice. Though the price is certainly competitive in the Birmingham market, you pay another price in terms of service, etc. The general condition of the property is probably best described as "well worn." Service at the front desk can be appalling slow at times, and not particularly friendly or accomodating. I heard more than one guest complaining about various issues such a problems with their rooms, incorrect billing, etc. They claim to have wireless internet in the lobby area, but no one seems to have any working knowledge of the system. And, don't expect to check-in early, if you've arrived from overseas. Getting a room before 2 PM is apparently out of the question, and even getting one at their advertised 2 PM time is unlikely. About the only real positive to the property is that it is on a very well serviced bus route, with easy access to the town center.

“You get what you pay for!”

Cheap hotel. Good location for Birmingham City Centre. Good parking and buses are regular. Hotel standard is poor though. There was an open shower gel left over in the bathroom from previous person. On one day I was not given any towels. No light in the stairwell at night. Good food at the pub next door (cheaper too!)

“Cheap, but still not worth it”

I got a good deal on Expedia for this place, but there were others around the same price I should have checked. The workers were by far the rudest people I met on my entire trip. The lady at the desk was talking on her cell for probably three minutes before she acknowledged me. The room smelled terrible. And the walls were a little too thin to ignore the amorous couple next door. I'm young and love bargains. I have relatively low standards for traveling and usually stick to hostels. This was cheaper than a hostel for that night, so I went there. Big mistake. I'd say either go to a hostel or find another room for the same price. Birmingham isn't really a great place anyhow, so nowhere will charge tourist prices.
