“You get what you pay for...period.”
The hotel was just what we wanted. Close to the motorway, clean, and quiet. They had us on a room in the front which was on the main road at first, but then they moved us to the back of the hotel which was nice. I wouldn't pay for wireless there....that is a scam for 10 pounds when I could have a nice meal at McDonalds just down the road and connect there. Good place though and way cheap with my coupon.
“Better than I expected”
Quite honestly, for the price, I wasn’t expecting much. It was very reasonably priced through Expedia however I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and modern, the staff was VERY friendly and helpful. They even left a nice selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the room. There are bus stops right out in front of the hotel and busses stopped frequently. I was glad that I decided not to rent a car. It was only about a 15 minute bus ride to the city center. The full English breakfast was weird (to a Yank baked beans and mushrooms are not breakfast food) but tasty and filling and I found the pub to be a cheery place to have a pint or two before bed. They serve a nice menu until 10 PM and the food was good and reasonably priced. There were a few issues with the hotel. The room was really really small and since it was in the back I had to walk through the courtyard to get there and it was frequently raining. There was some plumbing issue in the middle of the night that sounded like a jackhammer was running loose in the walls but they fixed it the next day so it was only noisy for one night out of the six I stayed there. Otherwise it was a quiet room. The wifi was only accessible from the pub and the lobby. All in all I was pleasantly surprised and if you are looking for a bargain and are willing to look past a few rough edges, I would recommend The Edgbaston Palace Hotel.
“great value - no complaints, whatsoever”
We reserved a double bed with a pack n' play for our 2-year old. The room was small, but very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was sufficient. We also had full-breakfast as a part of our rate and the breakfast was well worth it (especially when travelling with a child). They provided continental style breakfast along with a hot breakfast of your choosing. We were extremely pleased with all of the services and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would only stay here again if visiting Birmingham in the future.
