Pros: The peace, location, the cleanness and the owners are fab!
Cons: More comfortable beds - the mattress was a hard!

Ideal place to stay when visiting NEC eventPosted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Nearness to NEC. Peaceful location Personable owners. Parking and shuttle service. Big breakfast!
Cons: Shame entrance to dining room is through the kitchen, but as this is someone's home, it would have required extensive re-arranging to avoid this.
Location: Local pubs (reasonably priced, tasty pub grub) - within short driving distance. Very handy for exhibitions and airport stop-overs.
Lovely country setting, whilst still being right on hand for NEC, Airport and motorway network. Charming family home, with cabins set in large gardens, run by husband and wife team - much more personable than a travel lodge! Great option to leave car and be shuttled into NEC - for no extra fee! Delicious full-on English Breakfast to more than set you up for a long day, traipsing around stalls.

Countryside in Birmingham !Posted May 3, 2014
Pros: Countryside feel in Birmingham
Cons: Good as it is.
Location: Nice pubs and good walks, plus canal 2 miles down the road.
We were exhibiting at the NEC so this place is great being 10 mins down the road, but oddly feels like you are in the middle of the countryside. The accommodation is in cleverly designed, designer pods dotted around the large garden, the great breakfast is in the main house. We liked being semi-detached in the garden and the fact you can sit out in the sunshine it felt like very glam glaming. The owners were great and we loved the free minibus into the NEC. Even though its at the end of the runway of Birmingham airport and you can see the lapel badges on the pilots! they stop at about 10.30 and don't start again till 6.30 so a peaceful night was had by all. This will be our home for future exhibitions without doubt.

Great location & a very friendly servicePosted Mar 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
I needed somewhere close to the NEC for a conference that wasn't expensive so chose The Redlands. The place itself is located brilliantly close to the airport and NEC, but is hidden away on a small track which I'm sure would have looked lovely had it not been for me arriving at night and departing in thick fog! By the time I got there it was dark and I couldn't locate it, but a quick call and the owner was outside waving his arms at me to help. The rooms are located around the back garden in wooden outbuildings. My room was well decorated, clean and had all the creature comforts I could want i.e. kettle, shower, tv etc. My only negative was that it was slightly on the cold side, but it was a freezing cold night and I was never at the point of shivering, so perhaps I'm being slightly harsh. It does come from having rooms outside though, although in the summer I bet it is great just to be able to sit outside your room in the garden. My only other contact with them was the breakfast, which was simply magnificent. The only way to describe it was the kind of fry-up my mother used to cook, falling off the side of the plate! I would definitely recommend this hotel and will no doubt stay here again next time I'm that side of Birmingham.

Nice place, very pleasant people.Posted Mar 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
Overall it was very good and great value, the couple who run the guest house were lovely and very accommodating. The room which was in a little chalet was very nice, clean and had all the usual things. A little on the cold side initially it took a while for the room to warm up once I'd settled in. It is very near the NEC, but you can't walk there due to a large dual carriageway road between the guest house and the conference centre, the owners do shuttle people back and forth in their minibus though which was very kind of them.

Very Cold Room Good BreakfastPosted Dec 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Room was OK a bit on the cold side for me. This was with it on full power. Carpet gripper by door hurt your feet when stepping on it without slippers. Brilliant breakfast. Good service to and from the LG arena. Make sure you return on time. Otherwise you get told off. Also the Shower looked a bit old and tired.

Lovely B&B in good location with added bonus of shuttle between NEC/Station and house. Hosts very friendly and helpful, breakfast a feast! Would use again if in area.
