Cons: Inability to check in
We waited more than an hour, perhaps an hour and a half to check in, as reception was closed (3pm Sunday) and no one answered the phone no given. Eventually I phoned Glasgow (from Birmingham) to try to raise someone, We waited another half and hour, and eventually, the housekeeper arrived. No parking available even to unpack cases. Sofa bed not made up. They advised check out was a strict 10am. WE DIDN'T STAY!!

I recommend the Spires

Pros: great unit, well equipped.
Cons: too warm
Location: an easy walk to the city centre
My initial comment is about Expedia, not the Spires. You said the parking was free but it was not. The entrance to the facility is through an office rather than a hotel style entrance. Be careful entering, there is a 3-4" step right inside the door. It felt like they were more equipped for business people than tourists. The unit however was really well equipped. Only one downside -- we turned off all the radiators but the space was still too warm, and because it was raining we couldn't open the sliding doors to the deck very effectively. A great location for exploring central Birmingham.

The Spires is located on the right side of town and it is very nice and neat as well....will be back...soon

Good, except for bin emptying!

This is a great and convenient place to stay. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with great bathrooms. They could have a few pictures on the walls which would make it more homely, it was a bit bare. The downside is that we were located near where they emptied the large commercial dustbins at around 06.00, of which there were a lot and it seemed to take forever, and then the next morning, again early, these empty bins were trundled by hotel ground staff along the paved walkway directly below us to various parts of the complex. Very annoying. If we went again we would ask for a quieter part of the complex.
