Needed a Quiet LocationPosted May 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our stay was great! My family loved the hotel. Guest services were very warm and friendly and they were able to accommodate our request for adjoining rooms overlooking the ocean. We were so comfortable we stayed an extra night. The only downside is that the beach was very rough compared to Pigeon Point, Mt. Irvine and others. In addition, there were no restaurants within walking distance. We were fortunate to have family members that resides in Tobago take us out to lunch, dinner and site seeing around the cily. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly return to Le Grand Courlan Resort and Spa on our next visit.

OverpricedPosted Mar 9, 2013
Location: Awesome views.
Overpriced for what it was. Bathroom in the room grubby and no drinking water provided in the rooms, you have to buy your own. Food and location good.

Nice hotel, clean, quiet.Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Clean, quiet, easy access to beach, swimming pool and great views from the restaurant. Lots of birds around!
Cons: A bit of a drive away from Pigeon Point and Store Bay. Few other choices to eat nearby.
Location: Very close to the Grafton Bird Sanctuary. A bit out of the way from Crown Point but not unbearable.
We stayed for one night during December. It was very quiet with few other guests, which we did not mind. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds well kept and overall very clean and tidy. We enjoyed the views form the main veranda next to the restaurant and swimming pool. Easy access to the beach.

Good if you are on a budget...Posted Jan 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
...The hotel is physically pleasant, nice pool etc., but when we were there (January 2013) it was absent of all life in the resort and no real life in the hotel itself - it felt empty. I laughed when I checked in, as I was greeted by the same receptionist mentioned in a previous review e.g. after a 9 hour flight I was greeted with a moody member of staff (in an empty hotel) who said "are you sure you booked this hotel and not the Grafton"...followed by..."we don't have your booking"...after producing the printed confirmation..the lady said.."we don't have a room ready you'll have to wait" (it was 3pm and the hotel was empty)..when I asked how long..she replied.."it could be hours"..we were then given a key after a few minutes..! It was funny, because I expected it...but the hotel certainly needs to (I) sort out its reservations system; and (II) remember that first impressions count... Finally, I would say that if you want a lovely hotel in a lovely, more lively location, with a great beach and calm sea, go to Coco Reef - we moved there for our last few nights. This is however, 2-3 times more expensive than Le Grand. If you want a more affordable option Le Grand is a good facility, but in an area without much life or options to do things. We rented a car whilst we were there. The beach is beautiful at one end and a little dirty/ smelly at the other...which was a shame. The food was not great at Le Grand, so I would advise against an All Inclusive or Board based option.

Disgusting, awful service, no food or alcoholPosted Jan 7, 2013
Pros: the fellow sufferers
Cons: customer service was horrendous, hotel was dillapidated
Location: decent location, beach was just as run down as hotel
This hotel sucks. Please beleive all of the bad reviews. I never take time to write bad reviews but since this request came to me, I feel compelled to respond. The hotel staff was rude, discourteous, unintersted in their jobs and I am am still waiting for my remote back. LOL I moved rooms after the first room I was in, the handle to the balcomy door broke off in my hands. My 2nd room had a better view but the remote to the tv didnt work so I gave it to the reception the 1st night in that room and called after it no less than 5 times to no avail. also, the pee pooled around my toilet has been there so long that it looked as if it was just the tile color. ew! I checked out a day early (after paying) to jsut be over this place! No wifi - don't believe their desciptions - its a con. Every person there visited the front desk complaining about something at one time or another so if you are bored during your unfortunate stay, visit the lobby for some entertainment. Do not go to this hotel or its sister hotel, the Grafton. Thank gawd I didn't do the meal plan as it was awful, when it was available - which wasn't often. and the bar didn't open in the 3 days I was there.

Good location and views , needs some updatingPosted Dec 28, 2012
Hotel needs some updating , the shower didn't work very well , hot water would come and go and the hotel's jacuzzi and pool bar were both out of service. On a positive note, we were very pleased that we were upgraded for free to an ocean view room and offered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and a platter of fruits the first night.

Great resort for couplesPosted Nov 26, 2012
Pros: Great hospitality, and the ambience .
Cons: No wifi service in rooms
The overall rating was a four instead of five because there was no Internet service in the rooms and was only available in the lounge area. However during my three day stay there I could connect to their wifi server even in the lounge room. I was very disappointed that I couldn't get this service in my room.

Pros: GYM facilities
Cons: The bathroom lighting needed changing and there was a leak coming from room above.
Location: Pleasant, Clean and peaceful
The hotel was very nice given that I have never really heard of it before. The facilities was diverse in terms of things to do. The Gym is a big plus for me and tennis courts. The location and beach was very pleasant, clean and relaxing.
Very happy wth hotelPosted Oct 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. The general population of Tobago is actually. But the front desk of Le Grand Courlan went above and beyond to help us decide a plan. Or to help us schedule an event. Also nice to have pool, spa, beach, bar, restaurant all on site. As well as, walking distance to market, other restaurants, bars and pizza shop. Tobago is very untouched by US culture which is nice, but takes a second to get used to. Don't expect to run into any Americans either. Embrace the local culture, nature and weather.
