Shower

Lost water, a sign at front desk notified, but a verbal alert from check in staff would have been much more appropriate. Disappointing.

conveniently close to campus

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: It's close proximity to VA Tech campus.
Cons: When a guest tells the front desk staff about an odor in a room , the front desk staff should check it out, not hand the guest a can of deodorizer.
Location: VA Tech campus, an excellent location
We had 2 rooms, one was excellent, one smelled like a dead mouse. The staff seemed less than enthusiastic about helping with it. We checked in and immediately notified the front desk of a musty/mousy odor. They sent a guy from housekeeping to the room with deodorizing spray, which he handed to me to spray. Then we opened small ventilation windows, turned on a box fan we had just moved out of my son's dorm room and went out for the evening. The odor was not too noticeable when we returned about 11pm. But since we shut the windows and turned the fan off to sleep, the odor gradually intensified and by early morning, we all moved in to the second room our college sons had across the hall which had no odor. The staff had told us they were unaware of a mouse problem, but while gathering our things to check-out, we found a sticky glue-board mouse trap behind one of the beds...empty, no mouse. The trap was dated 04/28/15. I would stay here again, but I would call the hotel directly BEFORE checking in and let them know that I want a room that doesn't smell like decomposition ! The location can't be beat and our additional room was fine.

Cons: The only negative was that the sign by the road was unlit. Almost drove right past it in the dark as you can't see the hotel from the main road.
Location: Was just passing through town, so didn't get to see too much, but did find a lovely local cafe nearby for breakfast! College town, prob a lot to do.
Possibly the most comfortable hotel room I've ever stayed in. I wish I could've taken that bed home with me, haha. The property is very well kept and rather gorgeous. Staff very courteous.

Excellent facility

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: Walking distance to all Virginia Tech activities
Cons: The room decor is tasteful but subdued...could be freshened up. Public spaces are awesome.
Location: Scenic walk to the golf course, Duck Pond, and our student's home on Oak Lane. Several places to eat within walking distance as well.
We stayed here several times for just one night while visiting our student at Virginia Tech. The staff is attentive and efficient. The rooms are clean and roomy and quiet.

Pros: Location to school was great.
Cons: The hotel restaurant (Preston's) was overwhelmed and couldn't seat people right away. Not enough staff to clear tables.
Staff were helpful. Rooms were clean but bathroom had some black mold in tub.

Pros: Hotel staff, comfort and cleanliest.
Cons: Room service after 10:00 pm
Location: Close to theaters and restaurants.
I would like to acknowledge several individuals that made our visit special. First, thank you Jeb for the champagne room service. Second, thank you Lloyd for the Sunday brunch. It was wonderful. The "room" maintenance was as usual-excellent! We have stayed at he Inn many times. We will continue to do so. Hope to see you all again soon! Steve & Caroline

Walked around campus

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Location: Ate lunch at Macado's, dinner at Cabo Fish Taco. Both great places if you want relaxation and low key.
Checked in and walked around the campus. Great hotel, great walk, I just hope she chooses Va Tech!!! Go Hokies!
