Not a great hotel

Posted Apr 4, 2013
Pros: The free shuttle service in and around the area. The bar staff was friendly.
Cons: Service in the restaurant and front desk staff and quality of food.
Location: its an unsafe area of the city. Not safe to walk around on your own
Water temperature in the shower was warm and sometimes cold. The a/c did not work properly hence the room was always warm. The staff wouldnt open the phone line as i needed to pay for my room charges of which after an argument trying to clarify that it had already been paid. The level of hospitality of the front desk was dissapointing. Being a 1st time traveller in the city no information of the surrounding area could be provided even after asking, no one seemed to want to go the extra mile.

Location: The Botanical Gardens, beautiful, peaceful - just don't expect anything from the food, it's not good I'm afraid. Oliewenhius Art Gallery which is small and excellent - and they have a terrace Tuesday to Sunday which is great for sitting outside and has good food.
This hotel is right in the town centre which some people may not like but I do and did. It's VERY convenient for everything and it's fine to walk around there - with the usual city caveats. The rooms are comfortable, not posh (or mine wasn't). Bed comfy, TV working, lots of hot water. Breakfast was OK, though coffee could have been stronger and hotter. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Only gripe: no daylight in the dining room!
