Great Location, Great Price No problems! whatsoever, rooms are small and bed are full size but for the price it was well worth the lack of luxury.

“Aging, but well-maintained”

A Summerhouse Inn, the former Fireside Inn for folks who have been around Bloomington for a few years, is a 60's-style motel with new ownership and a new mission. It is now centered around a well-maintained and attractive pool and offers down-home amenities like a gas grill and a fire pit for evening conversation. The complimentary continental breakfast is fine, but it could be augmented with a bit more imagination than bagels, cream cheese, toast, and odd toaster-French-toast, and fruit. Cereal is a plus, especially for the kids. The rooms are unsurprising, typical of budget hotels. Refrigerators with microwaves, a good addition helpful for a comfortable stay, are available for a small fee. Ice, annoyingly, is available by the bag, at a cost. There are no elevators. The location is excellent, close to shopping, the Indiana University campus, Lake Monroe, Brown County State Park, and Nashville. Some of the best pizza in the world, Mother Bear's Pizza, delivers to the room. My 5-night stay was comfortable. The staff are uniformly helpful and friendly. The prices are competitive. I will stay at A Summerhouse Inn on my next visit to Bloomington, IN.

“Great location for National Forest access.”

This motel is near Ind 446, which goes to the Hoosier National Forest access points for hiking, mountain biking and Lake Monroe. Also, shopping, gas and retail malls close by. The ice cream shop next door is a real plus.

“Friendly Staff”

We stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to IU for a basketball game. Fastest check in we've ever had at a hotel. Rooms were standard. Needs a bit of cosmetic work but for the cost it was a good value. The staff was extremely nice and the breakfast they served the next morning was just what we needed before heading back home.

Convenient and clean, the pool was well taken care of and the price was right. the continental breakfast was lacking.

Nothing fancy. Old and well-worn, but clean and comfortable.

“Not great”

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly and the place was clean. Room had coffeemaker and hair dryer. But the hotel is very old and run down, almost sleezy. The continental breakfast was ok, but not great....you help yourself in a regular kitchen. Location worked well for us. I would not stay again unless there were no other options available.
