"Great staff, wonderful stay"
We stayed for 2 nights at the Montague for my wife's 40th birthday. It was a great experience, the staff were amazing (they were 5 star amazing), the atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed the food... We had dinner, afternoon tea and breakfast, as well as drinks. The location of the hotel is great for the West End and The British Museum. Highly recommend.

"Lovely hotel"
Arrived late in the evening , hotel reception quickly checked us in. Although we only stayed two nights all staff where lovely. Only slight down side was signing out . Young lady seemed more occupied with what was going on outside. However other than that would stay again at this hotel.

"Good Quality Central London Hotel"
A good quality hotel typical of the Raddison Blu Edwardian brand. A little bit away from the main popular tourist areas but close to tube and railway and rooms are larger and a little cheaper. A good choice for business or leisure.

I arrived at the Hotel on Sunday afternoon and had a very good check-in experience. The concierge was attentive to helping me with my bags and everything was done very smoothly and within a few minutes I was in my room. I had booked an Executive Double as I wanted a small table and two chairs in my room however the room itself (522) was "snug" and the bathroom felt quite cramped. The biggest issue was the fact that the room was so hot. The air-conditioning did not appear to have a functioning thermostat and after spending 10 minutes in the room I decided that I had to change. The staff were understanding and efficiently moved my bags to a new room (205) which was a little bigger and had a sightly better bathroom. The rooms do need a little improvement. Some simple things: 1. The air-conditioning in the room is very noisy - you have to turn it off to get to sleep and then the room becomes very hot 2. Have a sheet as well as a duvet on the bed - once it got very hot you either have the duvet or nothing 3. There is no proper hook for the hand towel in the bathroom - often it would fall on the floor 4. There are no bedside lights - just spots in the ceiling which are too bright 5. There are no modern inputs for the IT - very old - can't really sell this as a "business room"

"Great old hotel in great location."
I've passed by the Russell Hotel a million times, on my way from the Russell Square tube stop (which is literally yards from the hotel) to various low-cost hostels etc.. This time I decided to check it out. It was great. Designed by the same architect who worked on the dining room of the RMS Titanic, it's stayed afloat, and maintained its Edwardian fussy loveliness.

Pocket Guide: Bloomsbury, London Green/Sustainable Hotels

The fashionable residential district of Bloomsbury in central London, dotted with hushed Georgian garden squares, has drawn famous writers and philosophers through the centuries. Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Set redefined the 20th-century novel here, and being the seat of the British Library and the British Museum, it was also where Charles Darwin formulated his historic theory of evolution.
