“Wonderful stay”

We were regulars at this hotel years ago when unfortunately it was sold to a new owner who let it run into disrepair and the service and cleanliness was not good. It has now been restored to its former glory, there are still some works in progress but I would definitely now make it a regular stay for us. It is beautiful and the staff and service could not have been better,

“Good for a romantic weekend”

My husband and I spent one night at the hotel that was undergoing renovations at the moment. You need a car to get there and explore the surroundings, and our room was in the opposite wing to where the pool and gym were... Would go back there once the renovations are completed.

“Nice hotel; good value for money”

The hotel is located at the edge of Leura, a town so much nicer looking than neighbouring Katoomba. Hotel is spacious, clean and also has large rooms with (board) games for all ages. For those playing golf, the courts are around the corner! Going to Katoomba takes less than 10 minutes. In Katoomba make a trip with the sky gondola, train (52 degrees fall!) and cable cart to see the "Three Sisters" and walk in the rainforest. Buy a ticket package. Afterwards you can have a buffet lunch in the rotating restaurant viewing the Blue Mountains. You can't do without a car (but where, apart from maybe the cities, you can in Australia?).

My husband and I had overall a positive experience at the Fairmont hotel. I did some research online before booking and it turned out to be pretty much what I was expecting. It is a very big hotel, you can get lost easily. It has two beautiful lillie ponds, tennis courts, both an outdoor and indoor pool, jacuzzi, and it is next to a golf club. There are also an arcade room for the kids, a gym, racquet ball courts, but all of it needs to be taken care of. What I mean is that this hotel must have been a first class vacation spot in the '70 but it has lost its splendor in the last decade. The hotel is under a new ownership since the beginning of last year and it was improved for what we could see. It is a beautiful property, but it needs to be taken care of. The garden is overgrown, so you barely can see outside the window if you are on the first floor. As you wander around the hotel, you do see some spider webs around the windows and doors. The room was nice and clean.

“A wonderful Christmas at the Fairmont”

We just enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Leura over the Christmas period. The service was exceptional. We booked for Christmas lunch as well as accommodation. the lunch was quite spectacular, the entertainment very good and the company of the other guests at our table, who we previously did not know, was truly refreshing, it all culminated in a wonderful experience. Finding ourselves without our family this year (all our kids were in the UK for Christmas) it could have been a horrible Christmas for us, but instead, the whole Fairmont experience was exceptional and we will be back next year (with or without the family!) The renovations to the Hotel are in full swing, we couldn't fault our completely newly refurbished room, it was great. Special mention to Yvonne (from lunch) her service was incredible and her good humor was spectacular - well done Yvonne, you gave up your Christmas lunch to make ours very special, many thanks from Table 25.

“Renovation delight”

Stayed in this hotel back in 2005 & paying a decent amount of money, we were expecting luxury. Although it's location & grounds were beautiful, we left feeling bitterly disappointed because of the state of the rooms & the staff were very rude & not helpful at all! When I heard that the hotel was being renovated & everything was being improved & I read the latest overall positive reviews, I decided to give it another go. I stayed there last weekend, Jan 2012 & this time I was really impressed! The room was absolutely beautiful, all new! The staff are obviously trying really hard to impress & the rest of the hotel is also being renovated. Only complaint I have is with the parking. Hotel guests should not have to compete for parking with the golf club patrons, they should have designated parking spots for each room of the hotel! The price is really reasonable at the moment but they are sure to put it up when the customers start to come back!

“Great hotel in Blue Mountains”

Great hotel to stay in the blue mountains. More attention to detail needs to be taken with room presentation/cleaning. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

“Great for a couple's weekend away!”

The hotel is set in a beautiful location and the Reception/Foyer area looks out over amazing views of the Blue Mountains and Valleys. There was a bit of an issue getting parking as there was a function on and the golf course was full, so we had to park down the hill quite a bit and wheel our luggage up from there. Although we didn't really need much help or attention from staff, on the 2 occasions that we required someone (on check-in and later booking a taxi), there was no one to be found behind the Reception Desk or concierge desk. Other than this, the hotel is great for a weekend getaway due to its proximity to the lovely town of Leura and a further 5 minutes drive to Katoomba. I would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to anyone.
