Lovely hotel, but a bit noisy.Posted Apr 22, 2014
Stayed two nights over Easter long weekend. Lovely hotel with nice facilities, but very thin walls! I slept with earplugs in, but my partner didn't sleep very well at all.

Worst night's sleepPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Cute vintage common rooms
Cons: Bedrooms and everything in them.
Cute vintage common rooms, but bedrooms make Harry Potter's cupboard look big. Beds and pillows were like lumpy rocks- worst night's sleep of my life. Hotel staff quite unaccommodating. The early 1900s look of the hotel unfortunately came with early 1900s comfort.

Near center of town.Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: We could leave our bag in reception before check in.
Location: Close to town and attractions.
Did not stay the night. Room crowded, small, noisy. Lay down for 30 minutes, wife had a shower and we left.

ConvenientPosted Jan 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel in a convenient location a minute from the train station. It's a stone's throw from the main street where the cafes, restaurants and supermarkets are. Overall a comfortable stay though it can be a little noisy as it is near the train station and you can hear when trains arrive. Also the building is a little old so plumbing is quite noisy. When someone turns on a tap in the next room, the noise goes through the walls.

Good base for visiting the Blue MountainsPosted Jan 17, 2014
Pros: Located within short walking distance of shops and transport. Excellent base for sight-seeing across the Blue Mountains.
Cons: A clock radio (not just clock) plus Shampoo / Conditioner should be provided. The kettle won't fit under the basin tap. Had to fill by the glass.
Location: Very short drive to Echo Point (Three Sisters). Other lookouts are only a few minutes drive away (Leura, Wentworth Falls, Blackheath etc.)
Based in an ideal location one block from Katoomba's main street and train station with plenty of food outlets, shopping and a large supermarket nearby. It is only a short drive to the various lookouts in the Blue Mountains. The room (single) was quite small and very basic (non air-conditioned). It has a fan but has only one window that has an ill-fitting fly screen. An exhaust fan nearby and the occasional train passing nearby made it moderately noisy. The guesthouse has a lift and a number of recreation rooms as well as a library. Parking was no difficulty, although it is quite limited and a bit of pot luck is required. If, like me, all you need is a shower, toilet and bed after a busy day sight-seeing, you will find this property, although being very basic, ideally located and adequate for a Blue Mountains base.

The location of the hotel is great and convenient, as it is close the train station. But sometimes you can also hear the noises from the incoming trains. Obviously the hotel building has some history and the style of the hotel interior is also quite old-fashioned. To me, it looks nice. The downside of my experience with in the family room I booked? It is a bit squeezed for us and the toilet is really a bit too tiny.

Loved it !Posted Jul 15, 2013
Pros: Heat lights in bathroom
Cons: Thin walls
I loved this place , so old world , clean , comfortable ,and in a really terrific spot . Only downfall is the walls are very thin but ... The make sure no hanging about in corridors or lounge area near rooms after 930 pm .so no problem sleeping . It wouldn't stop me from going back though .

Ok for the moneyPosted Jun 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed at the hotel for three nights and it was fine. Service was good and it's nice and central to the centre of town. Cleanliness really let it down though, the duvet cover was stained and obviously not washed, although the sheets were spotless. There was also a stain on the lace curtains and I couldn't tell whether it was wine or blood, either way it was very noticeable and unpleasant. The restaurant was serving condiments a year out of date but staff were responsive when told. All in all OK for a place to put your head after a long day if hiking but look elsewhere if you plan to spend any decent period of time in your room.
