Excellent facilities, very helpful staff, fantastic selection of buffet breakfast dishes. Good location away from the old town but only 6,000 pesos to get into the centre by taxi. 18,000 pesos in taxi from airport.

We stayed in this hotel with our daughter and her new Colombian husband following their wedding on our first visit every to Colombia. We took a long time choosing a hotel as it was such an important occasion. It did not disappoint. The rooms were excellent, the staff were friendly, the food was lovely. There is a private beach with sunshades and chairs for free (sunbeds extra) and towels for the pool and beach are free. The sunbeds by the pool are free.
It is close enough to the shops and restaurants in Bocagrande to walk to them (10 mins) and it is just a short taxi ride to the centre and the old walled town which is well worth a visit in the day for its historical interest and in the evening for a wide range of eateries to suit all pockets. We had been warned that Colombia could be a dangerous place but were travelling with a Colombian. However, the hotel has private security who are present but discreet, helping to make guests feel welcome and secure. Highly recommended.

"Excellent choice if you like an all inclusive hotel"
We really enjoyed our stay, the staff are very welcoming and helpful at anything being asked. The entertainment provided and daily events surrounding the pool area are excellent, don't miss out on this free entertainment. The only thing that we disliked was the constant pressure of re-booking the hotel for future stays, but they will leave you alone if you respectfully tell them to do so.

i needed one night after an event at the Hilton, without breaking the bank, with a good swimming pool and a touch more local feel than the Hilton, and ideally within walking. It scored tops on all these. Only odd thing was other reviewers raved about breakfast, while I could hardly see mine due not traveling with a microscope.

"Where I will be staying in Cartagena in the future"
Prone to profound laziness, I rarely take time to reflect on places I have stayed, but the staff and room at the Regatta were so wonderful I just have to pass this along. We (myself, wife and newborn baby) couldn't have asked for a more pleasant or satisfying stay in a great city where people do their utmost to promote not only their hotel, but the city, and country, as well. The rooms are converted apartments, and so are very spacious and comfortable, each with its own unique design, and tons of closet space. The beach is directly out front of the hotel, and towel service is provided, although you need to rent chairs and an umbrella ($12-15 all day) if you desire. The location is perfect, easy walking distance to anything you may need (shopping, food), but for me the staff/maintenance's sincerely pleasant, "we will help with whatever " attitude were a most welcome and pleasant part of a spectacular place to stay. Great price, great service, good buffet (simple, but plentiful with great fruit), make this the place I will be staying in Cartagena in the future.

"Deserves a higher star rating. It exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Hotel Playa Club."
This hotel is located on the best part of the beach. Their service is outstanding. The owners (Dominique, Alfonso, and Ramon) oversee every detail of the hotel operations. They courteously introduced themselves at the dining room and asked personally how everything was. Where do you get that level of service these days? One of the waitresses (Eneida) noticed one day we were running late for breakfast being served downstairs and offered to bring breakfast up to our room. Expedia.com describes "5 Stars" as a place where the employees anticipate your needs; well, there you have it. You don't have to go to an over-the-top luxurious hotel to receive personalized service. One of the owners personally oversees the food preparation. I highly recommend their "Playa Club - Fish Fillet" as well as their authentic coconut rice; yes, this hotel has great food at an excellent price. I just left Cartagena and I already want to return. Tell them Jorge from Chicago sent you. You will see for yourself what I mean. Best of luck.
