Convenient pleasant hotelPosted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Staff, breakfast buffet, spacious room.
The hotel is conveniently located on a main road that will take you north or south depending on what you need to do. The staff is superb! Extremely friendly, helpful and very attentive to every need. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the person, but this young man was particularly helpful and kind to us; he spoke perfect English (grew up in Florida) and he made sure we were as comfortable as if we were at home, offered us coffee and water every time we came back from running around the city, carried our shopping bags, even made sure room service delivered our orders! Breakfast buffet is great, fresh fruit, a chef station for the eggs, bread assortment is varied, from local arepas to English toast. The restaurant has good food, fresh and tasty. Rooms are very spacious (junior suite), and have a kitchen. Bathroom is small, but great rain shower head! The door to the terrace is somewhat difficult to open and close but that is minor. This is the second time staying there and will go there again.

Nice hotel. Disorganized management.Posted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: Basic staff. Overall cleanliness
Cons: Management and better trained front desk staff
Location: Location is on a major thoroughfare and was at times very noisy. There are few amenities near by
Service from staff. Doorman, restaurant servers, cleaning people. Exceptional! Front desk staff was clearly disorganized. At checkout they could not find my credit card voucher and requested a second signed voucher. Also wanted to add invalid charges. Since I did not do a second voucher, they would not provide a final bill.

Dear Chuck, Thank you for your comments which we take seriously. I have taken steps to make sure this does not happen again in the front desk.

Spacious suites off of the Transmilenio stationPosted Mar 11, 2014
The Lancaster Hotel is far from the old city but can be easily reached by the Transmilenio bus system (about 30-45 mins). It is off of a major street but in a safe area. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, buffet breakfast extensive and the suite was spacious and clean. Not many restaurants nearby but a few choices available within walking distance. Overall it was a very nice hotel and would be recommended to others.

Not impressedPosted Feb 12, 2014
Hotel is old and tiring, good location though, rooms have a smell and behind bathroom doors you can always find hairs and stuff sticking on the wall.... The doorman was very very helpful, however there's an inadequate amount of people at the front desk, sometime it takes more than 30 mins to get a taxi, and we paid the full amount through booking site, however upon check out we had to pay a "Securidad Hotelera" or something(weird to think about your have pay for your "safety" staying at a hotel?!) I have stayed in some hotels in Colombia who asks the same fee but it's voluntary, this hotel didn't inform us nor explain what does it mean for such a fee.... I wouldn't stay there and it's not worth the money.

Bogota Lancaster House ReviewPosted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: The size and features of the suites are unmatched! Enough said. I also enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts. Its great-even eggs and pancakes!
Cons: Eliminate insurance and attempts to mask other potential charges for guests. It sometimes seemed the waitstaff may also be responsible for cooking
Location: The location is on a EXTREMELY busy roadway-It is a bit noisy. I never felt unsafe in the area-but I likely wouldn't explore around after dark either
Many of the previous reviews capture an accurate essence of Lancaster House. One thing to BEWARE of is they will notify you of a charge at check-in of five USD per night, per person 'room insurance fee.' This was NOT advertised on Expedia and I personally found this very unprofessional. If you want to make more money on my stay at your hotel then advertise a higher rate upfront, and I can choose to pay or not. Nothing gives me a poorer impression of you upon my arrival than unannounced and unfair changes to my expectation of how our business relationship will work. This added up to extra one-hundred USD or so not planned on. As you can see, this is by far the biggest gripe about my experience! The suite itself was extremely spacious and pleasant. Plenty of hot water, comfortable and clean place. If you MUST have air conditioning it could be a problem for you I suppose (they don't have) - this was not an issue for us as we simply opened windows instead. The complimentary breakfast was definitely appreciated. Plenty of food! Even freshly prepared eggs and pancakes - if I was to complain I'd say the eggs were always overcooked. Nonetheless, I was always happy with breakfast! Also ate at the restaurant a few times for other meals. The food is certainly edible, but not five star caliber either. The staff is very nice and they work hard. Always willing to help find a taxi (hotel taxi is great too). I'd give a higher rating if not for the insurance

Great stay in BogotaPosted Jan 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had a great stay. The room was more like an apartment, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was better than most 5 star hotels! I would certainly recommend Lancaster House for short or long stays.

Terrible fail: no not water for more than 12 hoursPosted Dec 25, 2013
Pros: Junior suites. They are spacious and comfortable. The price is fair and the hotel is located in a good area.
Cons: Crisis resolution and management. The hot water incident was poorly managed.
Location: Location is great, located near a highway and other interesting bars and restaurants.
This is a good hotel overall with a very fair internet price for their junior suites. They are very spacious and well equipped. We only stayed for one night but the lack of hot water for more than 12 hours is just unacceptable. What made the experience worse was the lack of an apology or compensation from the hotel management. I would not recommend this.

Nice service but really but sleep quality!Posted Dec 4, 2013
I feel bad to give a bad comment to the hotel because the hotel staff was really kind and helpful but there is a reality and is that is impossible to have a nice rest there. The rooms are super noisy, they have "especial windows" but It did not work at all. The hotel is located on the main Bogota´s highway then is busy 24. The noise was not coming only from the highway but also inside the hotel is noisy, you can hear everything outside your door. The rooms are old and furniture like the sofa looks old and dirty. As It is not a hotel but an Apart-hotel....if you are looking for a comfy room.. this is not the place, cause it has a kitchen, living and dining room... so in general a lot of space but the bedroom is small and the bathroom super tiny. The good points are the hotel Staff, the location, the breakfast and the price.
