Cabana Inn

Posted Jul 30, 2015
As long as you're not expecting luxury, it should be fine. It's very basic, but reasonably clean. The owners are fairly pleasant and accommodating. It iss inexpensive relative to other places downtown, and it is only ten minutes walk to the very centre of town. I'd stay there again.

Cons: Mirrors placed lower so they would be more useful.
Mirrors were too high and therefore not too useful. Toilet was old and didn't have much pressure when flushing, but did work and was clean. We had problems with the TV connection which the staff worked on and fixed. A computer and printer were available in the lobby which we appreciated.

A place with character

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Are you low maintenance? Understand that some people in the motel are there on an extended stay? Can appreciate the vintage feel or "character" of the place? You need to ask yourself these questions before booking. It's not the Ritz, this much is clear, but if you don't need constant pampering then you'll be just fine here. Here is what I liked: Bed was very comfortable. No weird lumps or dips in the mattress Free, working wifi Staff was accommodating. They gave me a sewing kit for free when I needed to mend a button. They also let me choose my room (first floor, woo!) Location is good. Everything you need is just a 5 or 10 minute drive. Coffee place a couple minutes away and a laundromat just a block behind the motel. Boise was a stop on my three week camping trip so laundry was a necessity. The sign out front looks great on your Instagram or Facebook. That's not pertinent to your comfort, but I thought it worth mentioning. Seriously though, this place was comfortable and better yet, felt safe (speaking as a youngish female). The only hiccup I had was upon checking out I couldn't find a key drop and the office wasn't open yet! If you are going to check out early I recommend mentioning it to the staff so you can figure out the key situation.

Bad guest service. Beds in rooms very bad

Posted Jun 29, 2015
upon checking in the clerk asked if we smoked cigarettes I stated yes but we do not smoke around our children that is why we want a non smoking room he tried to force me into getting a smoking room I explained to him that if we choose to smoke we will go outside we do not smoke around their children then he goes on about normally he would charge a deposit he was very rude and trying to make me have a smoking room when I wanted a non smoking room also the beds in the room felt like they were broken in half it was almost like sleeping on a hammock it was high at the foot high at the head and wear a bow down in the middle worst night sleep I have ever had

Interecting hotel

We checked in easily. Kids loved the wheel chair, but beds were too soft and air makes loud sound when it kicks off.

Non Smoker

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: was quiet
Cons: flooring and tile
If you are a non smoker be sure to get a non smoking room. The town was pretty well booked up so we had no choice but to take what they had available The smoke smell was excessive. We purchased a can of room freshener to help relieve some of it and after two days it wasn't as bad but our luggage retained the odor. It is an older place, no real amenities at least compared to most places we stay at. The bed was clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. Great water pressure in the shower. I would not highly recommended it but it was not a horrible place, just old.

Cheap, but not a dive.

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: Cheap but clean and quiet enough.
Cons: Replace the carpet and appliances. This would make the room look nicer, and the appliances would work a bit better, but this would increase rates.
Location: Great location downtown and near everything.
Our room was clean, everything worked and the bed was comfortable. The carpet was old and tattered, but was clean. They are skimpy with the towels (2 bath towels, 1 wash cloth and 1 hand towel for 2 of us), but that's a minor nit in my book. Small refrigerator froze veggies not in the veg compartment. Microwave sounded like a wind-up car, but worked. Basically, a lot of older stuff nearing the end of their service life, but still working.

Housekeeping was lacking.

Posted Jun 12, 2015
A beer was in the freezer portion of refrigerator from previous people. Rooms needed to be vacuumed closer to walls and moldings. Broken piece off of toilet lid.

Was as expected, nothing to brag about but nothing really made it bad. Had a mini fridge, and was close to the venue so all good..
