No elevator required

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Our stay at The Modern was wonderful. I enjoyed not being in a "high-rise", elevator required… tower property. Parking was easily accessible and no wait on a garage valet! The hotel was quiet, the room was very clean and offered any amenity one might need. The front desk staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and the local coffee that they brewed was very good. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone looking to stay near downtown Boise. Oh yes, the complimentary bicycles are very nice as well!

Nice motel in downtown Boise

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: Clean modern updated rooms.
Cons: Air conditioner was noisy and no fridge.
Location: On Grove street in Boise. About 6 blocks from many restaurants and shopping. We went to a concert at Morrison Center on Boise State campus, 1.5 mi.
We were looking for a place close to the event center and came across the Modern. Hadn't heard of it before but took a chance. Outside is definitely older and parking is limited but the room was great. Clean, no frills but fairly upscale. No fridge or coffee. Nice tv and wifi was free. The bar is small and menu seemed a bit pricy. Had a drink but ate elsewhere. Overall experience was very positive. Will remember them in th future.

Hotel with character

Posted Jun 6, 2015
I loved my stay at the Modern -- affordable hotel with great character with easy parking and within walking distance of some fun parts of downtown. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and I liked the decor. The only thing I would have liked was a coffee machine in the room, but the hotel cafe and bar had great coffee, simple continental breakfast, and great lunch or dinner options. The patio with the fire pits was a great place to gather at night, and it was nice to have the option of bikes to use. I will definitely stay here again.

Chic new loo and feel on the old place...

Posted Jun 2, 2015
Pros: Avantgarde.
Cons: Mattresses - was good - not ideal.
Location: Brew pubs and growler station 2 blocks away. A few blocks off of the center but very close. Great access.
All was A-OK. People & staff were all receptive and were great. Fresh squeezed juices at the included breakfast was a WINNER! Bicycles for use with your stay in a GR8 cycling city.

Great place to stay with excellent food and drinks

Posted May 22, 2015
Pros: Food, location, rooms.
Cons: It's a bit noisy bat times, but it's so much fun who cares...
Location: Great location for getting to fun things in Boise. You can walk to almost anywhere. they have bikes you can borrow too so it's a perfect location.
It's in a very convenient location. The food is excellent and so are the people and drinks. The staff could not be more helpful and attentive. The rooms are cool and comfy.

Rooms too small, inadequate parking, noisey

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Convenient
Cons: See above
Location: N/A
Upon arriving we were unable to find any parking except on the street, which is unacceptable. The room was adjacent to the hotel bar which was okay except when trying to sleep. The hotel staff was very accommodating in solving the parking problem by moving their van, but they should make arrangements with adjoining property owners for more convenience.

Pros: It is convenient to walk to downtown.
Hotel is convenient to downtown and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. It is motel style, which is ok, but the outside "hallways" and the rooms are colorless and pretty stark. The bathroom is nicely tiled, but small and not well lit. There is a nice courtyard adjacent to the in-hotel bar and grill, with seating and fire pits. Parking is limited.

Coolest. Hotel. Ever.

Absolutely loved this place, and would go back to Boise just to stay here. Cool concept, great staff, good location. The dining area / lounge feels like a big living room where everyone is always welcome.
