Great Location in Boise

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff set the bar for friendliness and courtesy.
Cons: Hot water heater and bathroom sink may need to be looked at.
Location: I went there for a wedding but I did enjoy the restaurants: Fork, Arid Club, Cottonwood Grille and Smoky Mountain Pizzeria and Grill were all great.
At first glance, the hotel did not look like the pictures online. I expected a larger place. However, the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The court yard is beautiful at night and I can tell that it is the center piece and rightly so. I was concerned at the lack of parking spaces on occasion but I never failed to find a spot. On one morning, there was no hot water in the shower but I could access the hot water later in the day. The bathroom sink (on the last night there) drained slowly and I thought that it may over flow but it never did. Other than that, I really enjoyed the stay and I would still recommend this hotel to my friends. If I am ever back in Boise, I would not hesitate to book at this hotel again.

Great restaurant and bar. Very friendly staff. Overhauled old motel has retro charm with classy amenities. Comfortable bed and linens. Highly recommended.

A quick visit

I've been to the Modern before. I like its style and easy informality. Plus, the location is great. Big Cup to your right, downtown to your left... easy walk either way. All good.

Downtown Boise hotel.

Awesome bathrooms, comfortable beds. Staff is great and extremely helpful. Only drawback is there's not enough parking for guests. Small row in front and single row in back. Surrounded by business parking that you will be towed if you use it.

Nice Hotel. More than the outside suggests

Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff, rooms and the bar area were updated and comfortable.
Cons: The outside facade could be updated to reflect the modern interior.
Location: Close to downtown core area. Lots of restaurants, bars and nightlife. Easily walkable.
The hotel was a nice surprise. When we drove up to the hotel we thought we were in the wrong place. The images on Expedia show a much more upscale facade but when we pulled up we saw an older looking hotel that may or may not have been safe. As soon as we entered the lobby we knew we were in the right place. Don't let the outside fool you.

Would never recommend this hotel

Posted May 26, 2014
Cons: Beds are very low to the ground, sinks that drain, proper shower head. Just overall everything needs a face lift inside the rooms and outside.
Location: It is located right downtown so handy to all the shops and restaurant and University.
The Modern Hotel has attempted to upgrade but it is nothing more than an old glorified motel with a coat of paint on the walls. The bathroom rain shower is their newest 'feature', interesting but the water only comes straight down and there is no door so you must stand in exactly one spot or its freezing! The bathroom sink didn't drain either. When we first pulled up I couldn't believe this motel was where we booked it looked like nothing on the internet. We were scheduled to stay 3 nights but moved after the first night. Overall very disappointing and definitely would not recommend this hotel.

Nice Hotel but

Posted May 25, 2014
It is a nice hotel but on the first day I got back to the room and found my door was left open after they cleaned the room. Their food is very expensive. It is a neighborhood hang out so after about 5:30 pm you will need to find someplace else to eat, their happy hour brings in the drinking crowd.
