Excellent location but very disappointing hotelPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: Excellent location and friendly staff.
Cons: Improve the rooms and facilities offered
Location: Excellent location for getting round Bologna
Booked Best Western because of previous experiences but this one not good value for money. Rooms very dingy we were given a very small dark room and we asked to be moved which staff did very willingly. Next room although bigger very dingy and bathroom layout very cramped. Shower tiny and quite dangerous for less able guests. Breakfast fine although hot food was cold also coffee and hot water for tea cold. In the rear breakfast room a very noisy annoying sliding door which the staff used constantly to take pots and food in and out did not make this a relaxed holiday experience. No coffee or tea facilities in rooms only if you asked for it also free WFI only if you asked. You should not need to have to keep ringing reception to ask for these things.

Lovely hotel, great locationPosted Oct 31, 2013
Cons: Triple glazing?
Location: 1 minute from the two towers, 5 minute stroll to the Opera House, various piazzas and fabulous shopping arcades
Very pleased with location of hotel, convenient for all places of interest and about 15 mins walk from train/bus stations. The hotel is very well maintained, spotlessly clean and all the staff were very polite, friendly and extremely helpful. There is a lovely roof terrace for relaxing after a hard day's sightseeing and a breakfast terrace with great views on the second floor. Would have had no hesitation in giving the San Donato 5/5, but Bologna is a university town and the hotel is in the main university district where the students are very rowdy all night until almost sunrise. The hotel thoughtfully include earplugs with the bathroom toiletries which do help to mute the otherwise unbearable noise!

Great View of the RoomPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is not so easy to find, but it's located in a good neighborhood, full of pubs and restaurant if you want to go out and take dinner at 12am. My room has a balcony with a great view of the city. The terrace on the roof gives a great perspective of the beauty of Bologne.

Excellent value and locationPosted Aug 19, 2013
Excellent. Right in the centre, staff were very helpful and sorted out car parking and let me know that I'd left my lights on. Bar service was fantastic on the roof terrace and breakfast was good. Rooms were tidy and air conditioned which was lovely. Good view from balcony too.

San Donato Hotel BolognaPosted Jul 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
When you walk into your hotel room & there are ear plugs provided in the bathroom - then beware. 2 nights in the first room [room 236, for the record]provided to us & we simply asked for another room, after 2 sleepless nights. Listening to next door's plumbing at an ungodly hour proved too much. We were moved to another, much more spacious room but, again, the walls are exceedingly thin. Hotel is excellently placed in relation to town centre. Just don't expect to get a sleep for the duration of your stay.

Couldn't be happier with this hotel. I walked everywhere, many fine restaurants, great bookstore nearby.

Heaven on a stick !Posted Jun 7, 2013
Pros: The staff
Cons: None worth a mention
I apologise if my comments appear to be too generous - I must tell you that I rarely give such high ratings - but this hotel, and in particular the staff absolutely made our short stay superb. The room comfort was not much more than average but the service including breakfast was absolutely top class. I do not know whether we will ever return to Bologna but if we do the Best Western will be top of our list of 'to do's'.

room with a view of Bolonga leaning towersPosted May 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent location in the heart of the old city. Room looked out on the city roof tops with a view of the old leaning towers towards the city plaza. Good breakfast, Nice helpful staff and rooftop terrace with views and bar service. Good value.
