nice not BnB just a nice roomPosted Oct 9, 2014
central location, good host, clean room, nice photos on walls, a bit noisy over street breakfast downstairs at small resturant, cofee and pastry only with a voucher. Bologna is a great doen easy to get around and this location is close to train station.

Nice place to stayPosted Jun 3, 2014
This is the second time I have stayed at this b&b and I have ejoyed both visits. Stefano is very helpful and kindly booked a taxi for us when we left. The location is also very good, central and in an historic area. The breakfast at the downstairs bar also adds to experience.

Affordable hotel in Bologna's Centro StoricoPosted May 21, 2014
Pros: Very friendly manager who provided a map of Bologna and talked about sights, restaurants, and more. The room was large, clean, and quiet.
Cons: Visitors should be in touch with the hotel to discuss when they are arriving to check-in so that someone will be there. WiFi in all rooms!
Location: The hotel is a ten minute walk from the train station and a block away from the main shopping street. Most historic Bologna locations are nearby.
Like some other smaller Italian hotels, La Piazzetta della Pioggia is made up of several rooms within a larger building. That has some pluses and some minuses. On the plus side, it's gives more of the experience of urban Italian living. But check-in can be problematic - we showed up and it wasn't clear how to get into the building or how to contact the hotel, leaving us stuck on the street with our suitcases. Luckily, the hotel's cleaning person was there and saw our puzzlement, let us in and phoned the hotel's manager, who came right by. Also, providing WiFi to a variety of rooms scattered throughout this large building is difficult - despite a sign giving the WiFi network name and password right outside our door, the manager admitted that the WiFi coverage didn't actually extend to our room. He gave us a key to an office with a computer instead.

Nice hotel in the middle of the city centrePosted May 9, 2014
For us it was ideal as we were travelling with little ones and all the main sighting places were at a short distance. Also, we had a kitchenette with fridge/freezer and microwave ideal for keeping and warming up milk; and bars, restaurants and pharmacies just outside the building. Good spot indeed.

Comfortable B&BPosted Nov 20, 2013
Pros: The room was attractive and freshly decorated. It was well sound-proofed so we weren't disturbed by neighbours
Cons: We would have liked brighter lighting and bed- side lamps better positioned to allow reading in bed. Also, a safe would be a good idea.
Location: Very central and very near the wonderful Saturday market and the main shopping street. About 10 minutes walk(at OAP pace !) from the main Piazza.
Stefano, the proprietor, speaks good English and was very helpful, providing lots of information about Bologna and restaurants. He is still in the process of developing and improving the B&B and is very open to suggestions. While we were there, a book shelf disappeared from our room to be replaced by a much more useful, brand-new cupboard with 2 drawers! He kindly booked a taxi for us for our departure. A wonderful discovery when we arrived was to find an electric kettle,a fridge and a laptop for use on the landing: on the last day ,a microwave materialised! Ivana, the lady in charge of the cleaning and laundry is delightful and very helpful Breakfast(coffee, tea, a croissant or a choice of sweet pastries) was in the busy, friendly cafe/bar next door. We got to know the staff and regulars and loved going there. It was one of the highlights of the holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go again.

Lovely B&BPosted Sep 21, 2013
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Location: The street itself is quiet-ish with some places to eat close by, and a short walk from the main square - museums and more bars, restaurants etc.
The owner and staff are really nice and friendly, and the room I stayed in was well equipped and nicely decorated, and seemed to have been renovated within the last few years. As a solo traveller it was nice to have a double bed! Also worth noting that unless you get the room under the eaves, there are only a few stairs to negotiate as the building has a lift. This B&B is a fairly easy walk from both the station and the city centre. As this is a small B&B they give you vouchers for breakfast in the bar downstairs - staff there are friendly and it's nice to breakfast with the locals. The only slight downside is that a fair bit of noise carries between the rooms, but not so much that it can't be blocked out with earplugs.

nice place, no amenities, decent price.Posted Oct 2, 2012
Location: Great location between main plaza and train station.
Unassuming b&b a short walk from central plaza and main rr Stn. No amenities, and only part time staff, walk up one flight from street. By nice, clean room and breakfast of croissant and coffee included. Staff we meet very nice though essentially no English.
