Probably the best hotel in BolognaPosted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: tables for breakfast
Location: Good location in city centre meaning most of the sights and the shopping are within easy walking distance.
The one night stay was excellent, with a comfortable and quiet bedroom. The breakfast was excellent, but one of the waiters was grumpy and unhelpful. The tables for two were pushed together to make one table for four which meant sharing with a stranger - not what one expects in a top class hotel! The reception staff were very helpful.

Great location, close to the train station and at the beginning of the main street in bologna. The room was great, Breakfast was fantastic, the staff was excellent. We will be returning to bologna and will definitely stay here again, only for a longer time.

Very nice hotel, above average service.Posted Jun 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very nice hotel in a great location. Restaurant menu was excellent, but overpriced in my opinion. Staff was above average.

Former Glory HotelPosted May 29, 2014
Pros: It has a good location close to railroad station and major attractions.
Cons: What has all ready being stated in the experience.
Location: Excellent attractions to see and visit.
The hotel was once a four star hotel but it is not now. The staff at the desk is not up to a welcoming level nor friendly. There is no hot water in the room for making coffee or tea. The steam room is located in the spa which means it is not available. Wifi costs five euros a day. The bar was not a pleasant experience. The once glamorous evening dinning experience is a very poor choice.

quiet location close to centroPosted Mar 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
the staff not as helpful as other hotels, in fact main concierge said there was no CNN or English tv and there was CNN and several others. bed not so comfortable for a good hotel. could not control heat and it got way too warm. only way to cool it down was to open the windows which then meant it was not so quiet. breakfast very nice. Hertz car rental is very close which for us was wonderful because we could walk there with our bags.

Unacceptable climate control.Posted Oct 11, 2013
Pros: Close to train station. Professional and polite staff who were helpful but unable to remedy the problem with AC system.
Cons: Change the HVAC system so that each room can control its temperature with use of AC or heat to meet the needs of guests.
Location: Bologna is a wonderful city to visit; the historical center is large, well preserved and vibrant. Go to Bologna, but pick a different hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for one night and had a miserable experience. The Royal Carlton aspires to be a top notch luxury hotel but it fails on the most important point - guest comfort. Rooms and bath are large and well appointed, similar to what one might find in a first class business hotel in the U.S. We found the room much too warm. It was a very pleasant October day with outside temperatures in the mid-70s. It was roughly 80 degrees in our room. It was not possible to open the window and close the drapes at the same time. The explanation for the lack of air conditioning given by the front desk was that it had been cool on the previous day and the heat had been turned on. This meant that they would not be able to get the AC on for another day or so. They seem to have a central system that is either heating or cooling with no possibility for room to room variability. The hotel management was apparently unwilling to insist that service personnel get the problem fixed immediately. We had prepaid through Expedia; nearby hotels in Bologna were booked and we had a very early morning departure or we would have left promptly for other lodging. If you find you have no choice but the Royal Carlton, do not pay in advance and have an alternative ready.
