Luxury stay at reasonable price in busy Bologna.Posted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: See above!
Cons: Not a lot
Location: Directly opposite the railway station. You can walk all around Bologna in a day - lots of fascibating buildings to discover.
The hotel is directly opposite the main railway station & is well situated for walking into the city. Service, food, accommodation were all of an extremely high quality. Excellent breakfast buffet included in our price. The curtains in our room were off the rails but a young man soon arrived to fix the repair. Would definitely try to use a Star Hotel in future.

Great hotel across from the train station.Posted Oct 13, 2013
The rooms are very nice but the breakfast buffet is outstanding! We stayed two nights here and were very pleased. You can just walk across the street to the train station and there are great places to eat nearby.

Handy to railway stationPosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: Location to railway station
Excellent location to Railway station for day trips and if you have luggage to drag. Not very close to city centre but a nice walk under porticos. Staff not overly friendly/welcoming at reception (compared to other places we have stayed in Italy). Breakfast above average. We ate at the restaurant one night food nice but my dinner was nearly cold. We did leave something behind and phoned to let them know and they were in no hurry to check room said it would take a couple of days to check. Luckily the owner of the B&B we were staying at talked to them in Italian and we received the item in a couple of days where we were staying in Venice.

Good business-style hotel, close to main stationPosted Oct 8, 2013
Good "international-style business hotel. Handy for days out as opposite the main station, but only 15 minutes walk to the centre. Breakfast was impressive, massive choice, great coffee etc. Only gripe "free wi-fi" only available in the lobby with 30 mins access at a time. Not hugely convenient....

Great hotel across from the stationPosted Oct 3, 2013
Pros: Clean comfortable room. Friendly staff. Proximity to bus and railway stations.
Cons: The price for the first couple of nights was excessive although the next four nights cost was reasonable. Overall it was quite expensive.
Location: Piazza Maggiore with the historic buildings and cathedral, Santo Stefano, San Giorgio in Monte church, climb 498 steps to the top of Asinelli Tower.
Good sized comfortable and very well furnished rooms. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Good breakfast choice. Time limited use of PC in foyer. Proximity to the railway station makes it handy for excursions to other historic towns such as Ravenna, Modena, Ferrara and Faenza. Also near to the bus station. A 15-20 minute walk to the main city square.

Pros: Clean, efficient, central,
Cons: First room had shower in bathroom that had no bathtub surround and water was everywhere. A bit weird.
Location: Lots to do. Markets everywhere, across from train station, close to everything.
I wrote a review already as we stayed at Excelsior Sept. 12 & 27th. Susie at the front dest was amazing as I said in my last review. Friendly, businesslike, accommodating. Made us feel soooo at home & informed about where to go. Food at Pietro Trattoria was fabulous. Susie recommended & booked. A must to eat there......caramalized onion with ice cream and herbed crustini was fabulous. Would recommend hotel, restaurant in hotel was good for breakfast. dinner looked good but didn't eat there. Again, highly recommended. Susie deserves a medal!!!! pam

Good choicePosted Sep 11, 2013
The hotel is just accros the train station, location is very convenient for a base, also for visiting the city. The room is comfortable, double-windows provides very good sound-proof. We also enjoyed the breakfast. Definitely recommended by us.
