“Charming Hotel”

The Caribbean Club Hotel is located a few miles NW from downtown, about a block from the water. It is located close to the dive site "Oil Slick" (there is no oil, it's just a name). The hotel rooms are one to two storys and each is separated from each other by lush tropical vegetation. All have a balconies and some balconies have a nice view of the Caribbean and the sunset. The restaurant/bar serves good food, however if you don't eat at the restaurant the next closest place to eat is a couple of miles away. The dive shop is well equipped and guided dives are available. I would definitely stay here again, next time I would rent a dive truck instead of a small car.

Area recommendations

In Houston I would recommend the west/north west area of town to stay in. It's probably better maintained than some other areas of Houston.

“Country bungalows and seaside homes”

“Nicely Isolated”

I stayed in one of the newer one bedroom apartments and it was very nice. The food at the Carribean Club sometimes was very good and sometimes average. The dive shop was friendly and helpfull. I loved the location, away from the two major towns and residential areas, and close to the northern dive sites. It is a simple resort without the ammenities that other resorts have but perfect for those who want to get away from the crowds.

“Bonaire Coast”

Very nice hotel about ten minutes drive from downtown. Very convenient if you're doing shore diving. Great staff, good dive shop. NIce breakfast and bar.

Area recommendations

It's up the coast a ways. Very quiet, but a bit of a slog into town if you're trying the restaurants there.

“Carribean Club - Bonaire's Hidden Resort”

A very out of the way quaint place to stay, everyone is very accommodating and extremely polite. I will definitely stay there again!

Area recommendations

The island consists of mostly cactus, goats, and salt. Scuba and Snorkel are what it's famous for, anything else and your kinda stretching it. Bonaire is a diving resort few people know about, a must see if your into scuba and/or snorkel.

Getting around

Renting a car or off road vehicle is highly suggested, the island is maybe 40 miles in total, there's no getting lost and if you do, everyone has a map.

What to pack

Scuba & Snorkeling gear! Sun lotion, and a waterproof camera.

Dining

"It Rains Fishes" is an excellent seafood establishment, highly recommended, average dinner for two was $50.00 USD.

Outdoors or beach

Lot's of places to scuba/snorkel, simply look for the Yellow Rocks with the unusual names on them.

“too remote”

Unless you want to just lie at the pool, I would suggest staying closer to town.

“Good value for the price”

Staff was great. Very Helpful. Apartments are very adequate for an affordable stay in Bonaire. This is not a place for those seeking high end accomodations. I would not hesitate to go back on a future trip.

“Off the Beaten Path”

The hotel is slightly distant - 4 miles - from everywhere. I had a scooter, and a friend nearby had a truck. For divers dives, you will need transpo unless you utilize the friendly dive shop. The inexpensive rooms are very modern, nice. but small, and a fairly good deal. Larger suites are very nice with cooking facilities, frige, and porch. There's a nice bar and restaurant. Sweet pool. 200 yards from the gorgeous waters. Small platform and ladder, but no beach. A dive site in itself. The grounds are presently under construction which means dumpsters amid pretty trees, but a slightly ugly view. The staff is VERY, VERY nice and friendly. If you are a couple looking to be alone, it is great. I was there in January, off-season, and I had the place to myself. Quite nice. No social scene. In-season, I imagine quite different.

“"Worth the price"”

The hotel is ok, a little bit far from downtown, but yet a good location. If you're thinking in not spending much in accomodation this is definitly a good option.

Traveler's tip

You must not lose Bistro de Paris, excelent food (international/french), the pizza from Rum Runners, the great food from Patagonia, an argentinean restaurant and the cool City Cafe in downtown.

“loved Bonaire....but.....”

My room was very spartan. Only 2 sheets on the bed - no blanket or bedspread. No soap in the shower. Not decorated at all. Furniture cushions were vinyl. However, since I was only in the room to sleep, it suited me just fine. And it was very nice to have free WiFi!
