“Beautiful grounds, rooms needed updating”

Divi Flamingo has beautiful grounds which is very well maintained. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The food at the hotel's resturants was very good and reasonably priced. We paid for "Run of the House" room and were given an ocean front room. Our room was so close to the ocean that the waves crashed against our patio. The two biggest negatives to this hotel were the rooms needed updating and there was a very small beach.

“Affordable & clean: What more does the average diver need?”

We were in room 208, witch was on the second floor overlooking the ocean and Klien. The room and facilities were clean and the staff were hospitable. The Divi does not have all the bells and whistles that some of the other resorts, but at their price point it's a great deal. We will most likely stay there next time we head out that way, which we will. Remember to get a key for the in room safe and a key for the front gate.

“Good hotel”

Nice location. Close to town. Caters to handicapped which was nice to see. Breakfasts were expensive. Dive shop was also expensive but convenient. Has car rental on site. Get north gate key to save a lot of walking.

“Divi Flamingo”

This hotel is a good value and the Chibi Chibi has very good food, especially the catch of the day. We enjoyed the pasta night, BBQ night, and taco night at the Calabasas buffet as well. Be sure to keep all of your food in zip lock containers and wipe up all the crumbs. I like the colorfulness and casual atmosphere of the hotel. The house reef is easy to get to and has minimal or no current. Off to the right side, you can encounter some squid at about 15ft. Cling to the bottom and don't make any fast movements and they will approach you. We purchased the 14 dive package and found all of our dives easy, fun, and long (50 minutes). Susan, one of our dive guides, was very informative and helpful and always seemed to be enthusiastic. I had good experiences with everyone at the dive shop. The weather and water temperature is good all year long in Bonaire. Even though the water is warm you may need a thicker wet suit than normal because of the long dives (45-60min) and multiple dives per day. I brought a 3mm, the water was 81-82 F, and I wished I brought a 5mm. Some of the divemasters were wearing 5-7mm with a 3mm shortie over it. The dive shop rents 3mm shorties only. Of course, it depends on your tolerance for cold underwater which varies person to person. Bring a combination lock for your dive locker. Dive responsibly and protect this beautiful reef. I will return to the Divi next year.

“Fourth Time to Divi Bonaire. Great time.”

This was our 4th trip to Bonaire and our 4th time at the Divi. We love this place. It's llke a little village on the water. We had a waterfront room which had a great view and was clean and comfortable. I'm a diver and my wife is not but she loves to walk to town and beyond every day while I am diving. We like to Chibi Chibi restaurant very much, we like the pools. Staff was very friendly. Diving satff and facilities / boats are outstanding. Makes boad diving very simple. We always go to the town supermarket to buy some milk, cereal, etc for breakast as the hotel breakfast is crazy expensive ($19 per person I think). Only one big issue for me: recent storms have thrown a lot of sand on the reefs around the island (nothing to do with Divi). The coral just is not what it used to be. Fish were freindly though.

“Good place for basic diver”

Although the bed was squishy, some maintenance was lacking, and the room was a bit moldy-smelling, it was a great set up as a diver who tracked in wet dive equipment daily. The porch was fantastic for drying. There were plenty of places for sunbathing, and the dive shop has a great, accessible and accommodating set up. The effort and attention of the staff at the hotel and dive shop was commendable and much appreciated.

“Great location and dive operation”

The Divi Flamingo has a great location (easy walk to town) and makes diving easy, convenient and affordable. Dive operation is first rate. Hotel is showing its age. There are a lot of ongoing maintenance projects (both pools were closed when I was there between Thanksgiving and Christmas). Wouldn't recommend taking all meals at the hotel. The food is okay, but there are fantastic restaurants in town. Hotel was overbooked when we checked in, but staff found us a great place to stay the first night until we could get it. I would go back again.

“Close to town can be good or bad....”

We have stayed at the Divi a few times. It's a nice hotel, not the best, not the worst, decent for the money. There is a nice reef to snorkel or dive at. The dive shop is well equipt and the restaurant in good. You can walk to town from the hotel. Unfortunately the cruise ship people can walk to the Divi from where they anchor so on cruise ship days you can get a lot of people from outside at the resort. There is security on site which is good as there have been a number of break-ins recently, both at resorts (while people are sleeping in their room) and private homes.

“Diving Great”

The lockers out on the dock make the diving extremely easy. The diving rates were not explained to us, so we found out that the shore diving cost us the same amount as the boat diving. This was very odd, but I guess they want you to boat dive. There are no king size beds so that was disappointing. The hotel had several evening buffetts that were very reasonably priced and the food was very good. The service was okay, probably not enough help. I think they are trying to maintain the hotel but it is very large and again probably not enough help. I would probably return because I like the diving off of the dock and the lockers close by.
