“Best Chef, great beach, not a fancy hotel”

This is not a premium hotel, but has many pluses. The bed was hard, we bought our own pillows (theirs are flat as pancakes), the kitchen could use a microwave, a full length mirror in the bedroom would be nice, but the view of the ocean from your balcony was wonderful. Great beach, nice snorkeling next door in front of harbor village. The staff are very helpful and nice. The brightest star is Chef Dan. The Spice Club restaurant isn't done yet but when it is I'm sure it will be one of the best on the island because of this chef. Currently the restaurant is only a beach bar/grill and he has to cook out of one of the rooms but he makes the best soup around. We caught a wahoo and he was glad to cook our catch, it was the best fish we had on the island, no other restaurant could compare(and we ate at a lot) we are now spoiled. Music in the evenings, this is a fun, not fancy place to stay. Enjoyed it.

“Good Location but Hotel Disappointing”

This hotel has a great location and the outside areas are good-looking and well-maintained. One of my complaints about the hotel is that they don't have the services advertised on their website. There is no exercise room, spa, activities desk, library or complementary drink upon arrival; anyone booking their reservation based on this information will be disappointed. The hotel is undergoing major renovation and the renovated rooms look nice. Unfortunately we got an unrenovated room and it seems like management has given up on the upkeep of the old rooms. There was mold in the shower (especially on the only ledge available to place soap and shampoo), exposed video cables and holes in the drywall, water stains on the curtains, and partially melted plastic utensils in the kitchen. The beach, bar and restaurant are run by Spice Beach Club. The restaurant and bar are very popular with people who aren't staying at the hotel, and the beach is open to tourists from the cruise ships in port. One night they had a DJ on the beach and the music and crowd noise got loud; we had to leave the hotel to get away from it.
