“Adequate”
We flew in and our of Bordeaux. Booked a room with two twin beds for the first and last day of our 13 day vacation in France. The rooms are tiny, really tiny. A person could not sit on the floor between the two beds. Much smaller than a dorm room. That said, the rooms were clean with comfortable beds and great pillows. Our first room had a nice view of the street, our second room had a window that opened into a 5 x 5 icky internal structure with a roof below our window. We couldn't leave the window open as I was sure rats would walk right into the room. (To be fair, I didn't see evidence of rats, but that is the feeling I got.) The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, unlike most of the people we encountered in Bordeaux who were rude, snobby, and intolerant of English-speakers. Contrast this with our experience in the Dordogne and the Pyrenees where the French people were warm and welcoming. We were glad our time in Bordeaux was brief. (FYI, my daughter has been studying in Bordeaux for 5 months and speaks fluent French. Her experience with this city has been similar.) Bordeaux is a shopping mecca for snobby rich people.
