Pros: old charm
Cons: breakfast offering very poor range, suspicious reception personel
Location: good location with plenty to do and see all around
Good hotel, very expensive breakfast for what is offered. Credit card was compromised after handing it to a staff member for copying, this despite the fact that the hotel had been prepaid in full. None of the other 18 hotels asked for a credit card copy during our tour, which were all prepaid as well.

Great locationPosted Aug 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Grand Hotel is a spectacular looking hotel in an equally spectacular position. Considering its position, it is very well priced. Quite dark inside though and in some areas of the hotel it seemed a little sad and tired, in need of an uplift. The corridors outside the rooms are quite shabby in places. I felt it needed some money to be spent on it. Our room was very good though and very comfortable. The prices in the mini bar were ridiculously expensive. We didn’t use the spa as we were there to see the city, but we did have a tour around it and to be honest, although it seemed a lot of money initially, I wish we had used this facility as it would have been an excellent way to relax after a day exploring the city. The food in the restaurant was fabulous. We did eat outside, in front of the hotel and initially we were given a position furthest from the hotel and it did feel as though we were on show to passers by. When we asked to be sat further inside the restaurant, the Maitre d’ was quite obviously “put out”, which I though was unprofessional, especially as we were eating very early when the restaurant had very few diners. Overall though we really enjoyed our stay and we will go back.

OverpricedPosted Jul 30, 2013
Location is great, hotel is good, but overrated and overpriced. Standard rooms are small and heavily furnished so one has an impression that the room is even smaller than it actually is. Parking and Spa (swimming pool) are not included in the price, what is, in my opinion beyond comprehension. Staff is polite.

Room was dark and uncomfortably situated.Posted Jul 28, 2013
Pros: The two positives about the hotel were the location and the upper deck.
Cons: The service! The rooms and the hallways.
Location: Good location with lots to do.
The hotel was highly recommended and we were very disappointed. The hallways from the elevator to the room are in desperate need of new carpet (very smelly) and the room was very dark. The staff was very average with their service. The concierge promised things that he did not follow through with. Our shower head was broken and the coffee maker shot water all over the room when we tried to use it. They eventually fixed them but it was a very disappointing start to our stay. For the cost of the room, it was not worth it.

Amazing staff, location but not all amenities inclPosted Jul 22, 2013
Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Their suggestions for restaurants were all excellent and would go out of their way to make sure not only were you happy but one even went as far as half walking us to a suggested restaurant. Only negative was that access to the pool and breakfast was an extra cost. Given the cost of the hotel I would have imagined this to be included.

Awesome stay-just get clear directions if drivingPosted Jul 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a first class hotel all the way. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the facilities are beautiful. As is typical in Europe, the hallways aren't air conditioned so that can get a bit stuffy but the one in the room worked perfectly. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was huge by French standards. The staff helped us with dinner reservations, tours, anything we needed. The only rub is that the hotel is in a square that is just for pedestrians. It looks like you can't drive on it but there is a way to drive to the hotel. Just make sure they explain that to you if you are driving. Otherwise I can't say enough good things about this place. A must if you are in the area.

Wow!Posted Jul 13, 2013
Pros: The decor in the room was very elegant. The location was perfect - In the center of town across from the Grand Theatre and the tramway.
Cons: The room was small by American standards but it had everything you needed.
One of the nicest hotels I've ever been in.. On par with The Broadmoor

Great Hotel location and service, very good food in the Mitchelin Starred restaurant. For a 5star hotel with 5star prices it does need some small repairs, the G on reception desk was broken as was the beading round the desk. In the gym the fit ball hadn't been replaced but over all excellent

Expensive but worth it!Posted Jun 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
We absolutely loved this hotel and were glad we splurged. We chose one level up from the lowest room (superior? I forget what they call it). Service was fantastic and its very nice to have a full service hotel when in a foreign country for us, the concierge set up an incredible winery appt in St. Emillion for us and provided good restaurant recommendations in town.
