Classic and Comfortable

Posted Oct 26, 2014
My husband and I just returned from Bordeaux, where we had to gone to visit a number of chateaux in the region. We chose to stay at The Trand Hotel because we wanted a chance to get to know the city center as well as the wine country. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right across from the opera. while you will spend a great big of time in a car to get to the chateaux, it is well worth staying in Bordeaux proper to experience it all. The staff at the Grand Hotel was wonderful; the bellmen and concierge in particular. They were friendly, helpful, and always greeted us by name and with a smile. We will definitely stay here every time we return to Bordeaux.

Expensive, impersonal hotel.

Pros: The location.
Cons: The room lighting and ventilation. Tea and coffee making facilities in room.
This hotel looks magnificent from outside. It's location is superb. We paid a lot of money and were housed in a weird back room that was small, uncomfortable and hot. The window did not open. The airconditioner rattled. Staff were efficient with check in but we were otherwise invisible to them. No facilities for tea and coffee in room. Tea at hotel 7euros.

Nice luxury city centre hotel in Bordeaux.

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Nice City. Hard to find car access to the front of hotel, due to barriers, even with Sat Nav ! Easy when you know how - Hotel should advise how to gain access. Our Bathroom ceiling had a water leek from the bathroom above, not good in an expensive luxury hotel !! Valet car parking expensive at 37euros per night !! If using trams in Bordeaux, don't forget to buy a 1.5 euro ticket ( if you can find the pay station ) OR they fine the tourists 50 euro each !!! Not Very friendly :(:(

A touch of luxury in the best location in Bordeaux

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Fantastic welcome from the uniformed doormen who couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. This is comfort and luxury old-style. The location couldn't be better - next to a tram stop and in the best square in Bordeaux. The buffet breakfast is pricy but there is a lot of choice and the view from the window onto the square makes up for it. The bedroom was small, facing onto an inner courtyard which did give some daylight. Bed and pillows v comfortable - slept for 9 hours. Note for Brits: no kettle but there is a Nespresso machine.

Overall, very much enjoyed. The lights in the room were little bit too dark to me though.
