Very noisy, couldn't,t sleep

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Location and breakfast. Also nice restaurant with very good food.
Cons: Need to install better windows that are more sound proof and also quieter heating cooling units.
Location: Lots of cafés and shops nearby. Walk to the public garden, common, historic beacon hill, art museums, upscale indoor shopping mall, freedom trail,
Would have been a great place to stay except for the noise all night long and especially early morning from trucks making deliveries and going by. The hotel was remodeled but they didn't,t install better, more sound proof windows. They also didn't,t update the heating cooling system which is very noisy all night long.

Weekend in Boston

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Spent a premium for a 12 x 12 room and listen to garbage trucks and sirens pretty much all night long. Buyer beware. Great location great staff and great food. Just a restless night.

the hotel is located very centrally on Beacon Hill

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Our room was well decorated with natural and soft yellow/gray colors.
Cons: Staff needs to be much, more service oriented especially towards hotel guests. Double pane windows and drapes would dampen street noise and lights.
Location: The Charles River is close by, Charles street is a fun street with boutiques, restaurants, small grocery stores.Boston Commons around the corner.
The main focus of the hotel seems to be the restaurant. Staff does not have much time to address requests of hotel guests. You enter the hotel through the restaurant/bar, where staff caters to restaurant guests first. Our room was on a corner facing Charles street as well as a side street. It was very noisy through the night. The shutters had to stay closed to prevent neighbors from looking in, yet did not close enough to keep street light out at night. Upon arrival the linen duvet cover smelled and looked used, so we requested a clean one, yet were told they didn't have a spare kingsize one so"just take it off and put it in a corner". For $350.00 a night I expect better than that. After some persuasion they were able to provide us with two twin comforters instead. Talking to another set of guests I found out they were disappointed by the decor of the room and the noise and service as well. I would not return to this hotel or recommend it. For the price I feel you could find better accommodation. This is not a hotel for families. There is no lobby, a minute sitting area, no patio, other than on a roof shared with other properties and hard to reach.

Not worth the hassel

Posted Aug 24, 2013
Pros: The location to everything.
Cons: The windows and insulation quality. And the parking situation. Valet would have been a safer option.
Location: across from the Boston Commons (park like setting). It is walkable to the financial district, the North End (great restraunts), Beacon Hill
Truthfully, value is subjective. Therefore, I'll stick to the facts. The location of the hotel is accessible to key areas of Boston. Although it is good, it was also bad. There is no designated parking for their guest. You have two choices: street side parking (but you need to move your car before 8am) and that option is pure luck OR park in the underground garage beneath the Boston Commons which is located just across the street. Seems like a reasonable option except for the fact that the garage is huge with multiple exits. Finding a parking spot near the appropriate exit is very difficult because of barricades and lack of direction. If your lucky enough to get close to the correct stairwell/elevator, you still need to carry your luggage behind you and walk to the hotel entrance which isn't just around the corner. My daughter and I were not fortunate to find street side parking and had to use the underground garage. It was after dark and I felt unsafe. We did make it to the hotel. It was clean and the staff was fine. But the noise that came from the street was annoying. I got out of bed twice just to see if the window was open. It sounded like we were outside. I've spent several nights in NY city and never experienced the excessive noise level like at this hotel. Irritating and disappointing . The complimentary made-to-order breakfast couldn't make up for the sleepless night.

Fantastic part of downtown Boston.

This is a great little hotel in Beacon Hill. Very comfortable, intimate and personable. It has a well known restaurant as part of the hotel and includes breakfast as part of your hotel fee (except for gratuity). The breakfast is great. Very nice and delicious. Peter, the owner was wonderful. One of the staff Andrew were superb with us!! I would stay again for sure, especially if staying where I would be using the room more. If on a budget, then perhaps too pricey for a 2-3 night stay in Boston. But most hotels in the city are pretty expensive. Overall, loved it and would return!!

Idéal en couple ou seul. High quality cuisine

Posted Apr 24, 2013
Pros: Son architecture
Cons: Rien
Location: Très central. Proche des Boston common. Idéal pour une promenade ou du jogging . Location de vélos à proximité
Emplacement parfait.

Lovely Small Hotel

Posted Apr 11, 2013
This was my first time in a small hotel like this one. I was surprised at the small size of the room, but perhaps that's typical for this kind of hotel. I accidentally left something in my room and they are sending it to me at no charge - very nice. I would totally recommend this place.

Great boutique hotel in a great location

Posted Oct 13, 2012
Small hotel with small rooms but in a great area of Beacon Hill one block from parking and the Boston Commons. Start of the freedom trail just on the other side of the park (Boston Commons). Again the rooms are small but well appointed. Staff is great. Breakfast was excellent at their Bistro. When we go back to Boston we will be staying here again.
