I stayed at Boston Common for a few nights while on business in Boston. The location was terrific if you want or need to be right down town. For an older property the condition and cleanliness were good. My only real complaint is that parking in the adjacent garage (though discounted for hotel guests) is still pricey. Somewhat expected for the area but still added up.

Convenient to subway. Homey.

We came down from Maine for a night and weren't looking for anything fancy. Decent continental breakfast in the morning. They will store your luggage for the day even after you check out, which was nice, because we did not bring a car to Boston and were able to walk around unencumbered. The price was good and so was the location. Accessible from North Station via the orange line, only a few blocks from Copley Square and the green line. If you are on a budget and more interested in doing stuff in the city than hanging around the hotel, this would be a good fit for you.

No Frills but it's got all the basics.

If you are looking to stay as downtown as possible and not pay an arm and a leg for it, this is the place. Don't expect a Taj Mahal hotel everything is basic and pretty outdated but very clean. Hotel staff are only as pleasant as they need to be. Don't expect friendly greetings or a feeling of service during your stay, to clarify they were not rude, just an "only do what I HAVE to" mentality which is fine. Continental breakfast was very basic but hey at least they have one and it saves you spending additional money on breakfast elsewhere when maybe all you need is something to fill you up. It's pretty central to everything but not too much right close by. Close to both the Copley and Back Bay T stops which is great. I don't suggest they change anything because if they do... The prices will go up and the low cost was the best part of hotel.

Expensive room, does not deliver. Expensive parking. Benefit is close to down town and staff are great.

Comfortable and well located

Posted Oct 31, 2014
Pros: Location, comfort.
Location: Copley Square, John Hancock building. Trinity Church, Backbay area.
Enjoyed staying at this hotel. Will definitely use it again on my next trip to Boston. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Backbay Station and a stone throw from Copley Square. Complimentary breakfast is included in the price.

Good local, disappointing interior.

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Staff and breakfast.
Cons: The lobby is sparsely decorTed. Furniture in rooms old and worn. Paint peeling from bathroom water pipe.
Location: Location is good. Copley Square was fun. Good eateries within walking distance.
The interior of the hotel needs a face lift. Bathroom had paint peeling from a water pipe. Furniture is old.

Perfect, excellent location in the heart of town.

Hard to find the entry to the small hotel but charming and old fashioned inside. Smaller than most but the pace and cation made up for it. Would definitely stay again next time in Boston. Stores, food all around. In the thick of many things. Worth it!

Helpful staff, filthy hotel.

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Not much!
Cons: Cleanliness -
The hotel was very very dirty, bathroom especially. The bed linen didn't fit the bed so pulled out from the mattress, the floor were sticky underfoot. Location was OK for access to Boston Common and surrounds, but you had to drag your case up steps to get into the hotel lobby. No-one to assist. WI-Fi did not work in the rooms, but was available in the lobby.
