Nice but basic

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Located next to the subway. Easy to get around Boston.
Booked two double beds and was told upon arrival that only King and sleep sofa available for our group of three. Only two towels in the room and one tiny bar of soap...had to request more. Shower temperature fluctuated from cold to scalding hot and was hard to adjust. Otherwise room was comfortable, but very basic.

Friendly staff, great location

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Across the road from subway, helpful staff: very knowledgeable concierge.
Cons: Free wifi in the lobby, and in all the nearby coffee shops and restaurants, why not in the rooms?
Location: Walkable to Harvard, you're in the middle of MIT, and opposite a subway stop.
Really impressive service. Nice, spacious room. Starbucks and a sports bar in the building, and loads of choices for breakfast, cheap and mid range meals right by hotel (au Bon pain, chipotle, legal seafood, clover)

Not for family

Posted Jul 26, 2014
Pros: location
Booked for 5 people. Was given a room with king instead of two twin. Very small room and very basic bathroom with one sink only and bathtub instead of shower.

Dear Family of 5 I completely understand your need for space when there are 5 of you traveling. I hope the pull out sofa met your needs. Walk-in showers are becoming a very popular feature in hotels and we are exploring those options for our next renovation. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Cambridge.

Nice, quiet location. Easy access to downtown.

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Easy access to the train and downtown. Quiet area.
Cons: The hotel arranged a trip to Cape Cod by ferry. The cab driver at the hotel had no idea where he was going and we almost missed our boat.
Location: Quiet location. Quaint neighborhood. Excellent restaurant nearby was The Friendly Toast. We ate breakfast and dinner there.
When planning our trip to Boston, we had no idea where to stay. This was an excellent choice. The train station was right across the street. We had tickets to the RedSox/Royals game and were able to walk to Fenway Park in 30 minutes! The staff was amazing and very helpful! We were a little upset on the first day because we couldn't find the hair dryer. We decided we really didn't need it, because of our short hair so it was not an issue. We laughed on the day we checked out when we saw it hanging in the closet. Our room overlooked the Charles River and downtown Boston. Can't wait to go back. If you are looking for a quiet and clean place to stay, yet close to the city, this is the hotel for you!

Great location

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: The location is excellent right on the inbound and outbound subway line. Staff are very helpful and eager to help with sightseeing info
A busy hotel right by MIT so lots of young people using the facility as a pass through between Main and Broadway streets

Great view of the city and convenient location

Checked in early from early cruise ship arrival. Room was not ready but front desk managed to find a room. Easy walk to Back Bay, Beacon Hill, located just across the bridge. Next to MIT and close to Harvard. Dining options downstairs.

Pros: Coffee maker in room Indoor heated pool, hot tub, & dry sauna (towels provided) Coffee & fruit in the morning at entrance to pool & fitness room
Cons: Bed mattress was good and firm, but the frame squeaked Better bed linen for pull out sofa bed No decaf after first day
Location: COSI and CHIPOTLE are very near the hotel, and there are other places to eat if you walk a little bit.
Very convenient for people taking public transit because the hotel is right outside the Kendall/MIT station of the Red Line. Since we arrived early, the friendly front desk staff said they will call us as soon as the room is ready, offered us bottled water, and stored our bags. It would have been nice if the number of towels provided matched the number of guests since I have given the information about how many people will be staying in the room beforehand. There was coffee and fruit when we entered the pool and fitness room area in the morning. There's nothing in hotel literature that mentions this perk so I don't know if it was just for a special day or event.

Differences

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: I like the location (stayed at least 10 times last year) and the friendly, helpful staff, including the excellent housekeeping staff.
Cons: The bath in this room is considerably smaller than that we have enjoyed at higher levels.
Location: The location right at a Red line MBTA stop, the proximity of excellent restaurants and bars, MIT and its labs, and easy access to Harvard and MGH.
As a longtime Marriott Rewards member, I have reserved few Marriott hotels via Expedia, but did so this time because the price was considerably cheaper. The room provided was fine - much smaller bathroom, and older mattress than I have enjoyed when reserving via Marriott. However, the hotel's location and the excellent staff make up for the less luxurious room

Hello Eddie; Thank you for your post. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the location of the hotel. Being in Kendall Square directly at the T station is very convenient. Our staff takes great pride in the service they offer and I will share your comments with our housekeepers. Please know we continually look for ways to enhance our bathrooms. Although they are not large they do offer very high quality amenities and terry that I hope you enjoyed. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to the area.

Even though we missed the fireworks, my daughter and I had a great night in the hotel room!
