“Excellent front desk staff”
The front desk hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The breakfast buffet was very good. Unfortunately, I had asked for a quiet room, but we found that the doors, since they are heavy and shut behind people, make a huge slamming noise that can be heard throughout the hotel at all hours of the day. Sadly, I caught many of the cleaning staff letting the doors shut (slam) behind them, and feel that if the cleaning staff at a minimum was aware of this situation, the hotel could be a lot quieter. Perhaps signs can be put up for guests to watch how their doors slam and try to minimize the noise. Otherwise, it feels like a party is happening with all the doors slamming shut.
“Convenient to Cambridge”
Hampton is a locale at which I stay oftne as it is convenient and relatively safe area. Price is competitive and accommodations are efficent and effective for my needs; Clean rooms, helpful staff...I like the property.
“Pleasant stay; would stay again!”
Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and easy to commute by free shuttle (as the T is being renovated here.) Would definitely stay again.
“Love Hampton In Cambridge”
Nice room, quiet. Parking. A fine breakfast. We were happy they have some smoking rooms, which are not available in Boston.
“Recommended with some reservations”
Hotel was pretty well-maintained. The bed was too soft, the heater was very loud, loud enough to wake you up. No fan in the bathroom. Breakfast choices were good. The hotel is a few blocks from a T station, which would be pretty convenient except the train is not running due to construction for the next 8 months or so. This means you have to get on a bus to the next station so allow quite a bit more time.
“Very good (moderatly) cheap hotel in Cambridge - Ideal for Boston too!”
Very good hotel - comfortable double room with two big queen beds, flat screen tv and nice bathroom. Breakfast wasn't included but at the reception there was always (good) coffee and tea available. Nice and helpful hotel staff. Hotel was in Cambridge but very close to subway stop that takes you directly into Boston in no time at all. (and the subway in Boston is amazing!) Overall very satisfied, would recommend it to anyone.
“Didn't get a no-smoking room”
I don't like to ding hotels, but when you pay in full for a no-smoking room, that's what you should receive. When our family showed up in the room, it had the distinct smell of cigarette smoke, plus an ashtray with two sets of matches in it -- pretty solid signs that I hadn't gotten what we paid for. Even if we had shown up at 11 p.m., we should have had a non-smoking room, but this was mid-afternoon. I called up the desk and asked for a true non-smoking room, and they said that the hotel was full and they didn't accommodate me. They didn't offer anything in the way of compensation or any token of apology, which you think would be standard operating procedure. Other than that, it was an OK hotel. It's a quasi-industrial area, but doesn't seem particularly dangerous. It's literally across the street from the Lechmere Station, which gives you a direct shot to downtown, the Museum of Fine Art, etc. The free parking only applies as long as you're a guest. Once check-out time arrives, you have to leave. The free breakfast was decent... It's a moderate walk to MIT, and a reasonable bus ride to Harvard. As for smoking rooms, I think that if smokers were told they had to go to a smoking lounge, it might cut down their consumption and they'd live longer.
“Will stay again on next visit”
Took my nephew for a visit and Celtics game. Hotel was right by T station when we wanted to head into town. Was within walking distance to Galleria Mall and resturants. The room was very comfortable and the service was what I have come to expect from a Hampton. Will stay there again on my next visit to Boston.
“A great value”
Hotel was clean and staff friendly. Breakfast was good. A great value. Parking is very limited. Don't be the last one in.
“OK, but a noisy with slow internet”
Pros: The hotel is clean and nice. The breakfast was better than I expected at this type of hotel. Cons: The walls are thin. I could hear people in the corridor, and movement above me. The airconditioning was ancient and woke me in the middle of the night with fits of load noise. The definition of high-speed internet was cable (!?!) with very low bandwidth. The location was a bit further out than I expected.
