Excellent hotel in a wonderful area

Posted Nov 5, 2014
We had four fantastic nights in this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean if a touch on the small side. But who needs a massive room. Hotel staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The staff in the Viga cafe were brilliant , especially the guy on the cash register. Hotel is handily placed for all Bostons attractions. Everywhere is within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Nice but noisy

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: location, staff
Cons: better construction room that protect noises and light
Location: Near subway and walking distances to many attractions.
My room is cheaper because it's for a single person. However, it's still almost $200 per room. It's a small room with a small bed next to the trash room with a small window. It's noisy when staff do the cleaning and when people walk by. You can hear the noises and see the light come through the door. I think there is no insulation or seal around the door. But overall, the hotel is great location. Staff is helpful. Room is clean, nice touch with a coffee maker and a refrigerator.

Hotel 140 Back Bay Area

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Copley square was just around the corner and everything was in walking distance. The cleanliest of the room was excellent.
Cons: I didn't stay in the hotel long enough to judge this but I would go back.
Location: Excellent location, walking distance to Freedom trail, town centre, and all shops and restaurants.
We checked in at about 18:30 local time and had a warm welcome to the hotel, after a long day it was nice to reach our destination. We stayed two nights where the room was quiet. We had breakfast in the hotel where the chef cooked us lovely omelettes. The hotel was only a minute away from Copley Square which was ideal especially as we were taking the shuttle bus to the airport early in the morning (05:00).

Convenient to downtown

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Location, staff.
Cons: It is what it is.
Location: The location is as good as it gets without paying $500 a night to be harbour side. It's very close to popular areas and 2 mins walk to a station.
Convenient to downtown and VERY convenient to Back Bay station for subway and rail trains. It is a pleasant enough hotel but it is boutique in more than one way. The rooms, beds and 'bathrooms' (no baths) are all very small. The rooms are clean and tidy, but the toilet cleaning was a let-down. Neither of us has long black hair but the same, long black hair was stuck on the rim of the toilet at the seat hinge end for most of the week that we were there. Yes, I left it there to see how long it would stay - and it did, until after we checked out. The bed was far too soft (and small) for us. We're spoiled by a super-kingsize at home and a normal double seems tiny for us (I'm 6'3" and my wife is 5'10) There is no Bar in the hotel but there is an adjacent (and pleasant) 'Italian style' restaurant that caters it for breakfast, dinner and lunch and can be accessed directly from - but it is not run by or really part of the hotel. Reception staff are very friendly and very helpful. However, at more than $270 (£163) per night you'd expect a bit more. Personally I'd go 2 ways on this in future. I'd pay a bit more and go to a bigger Chain hotel even further downtown (closer to harbour-side) and get bigger/better OR I'd pay less and go a few stops on the subway further away from down town and get better value, as the subway system is so good and cheap (with a $19, 7-day pass)

Good for keeping your room a "Pit Stop"

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Better room sound insulation BUT, this is an older building.
Location: Transit. Local bars if you walk a little
Great location. Near Transit. Room small, clean. If your there to get out and about at a reasonable rate this is it. I'm a traveler more interested in the area than the valet parking or chocolate on the pillow. Will stay again

Not As Advertised

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: They need to be honest in describing their hotel.
This hotel is a YWCA Hostel. It was billed a Boutique Hotel in the Back Bay of Boston, on where did they state the hotel was a youth hostel without the typical hotel facilities. Partially renovated rooms looked like it dated back 30 or 40 years, front desk staff seemed untrained and unaware of off site parking situation. I've stayed at 2 star and 5 star facilities and knew what the facility had to offer prior to checking in, I got what I paid for. The 140 Hotel, however, had clearly overstated their type of accommodations almost to the point of being fraudulent.
