“Great location, great beds!”

Right at the Commonwealth exit off of the green line on the T (Boston's subway system). Located right by Fenway and Boston University. Very close to park and gardens. Short walk to art museums. Great range in dining choices nearby, from the standard fast food to nice restaurants, as well as places to buy snacks and beverages to take to your room. Didn't have or need a car! Concierge was very helpful with directions and suggested alternative things to do and how to get there. My stay was off-season for Fenway, but there was still a lot of people out and about at all times. As a single female traveler, I felt safe walking in the area, even at night. And even though it was busy, I heard little street noise when inside the hotel. Room was spacious, with the bed separated from the desk/lounge area by curtains. Large desk with good lighting that you can comfortable work or eat at. 2 tv's one in lounge area and one to watch while in bed. Bed was very comfortable, lots of fluffy pillows and duvet. There was an in-room safe and fully stocked refrigerator. Bathroom was mainly marble. Large shower-head, good water pressure and no shortage of hot water. Nice towels. A couple things were not so good. It was expensive, considering the time of year. You need to use the bellman to bring your bags in -- you walk up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby. And the length of cord on the hair dryer was so short that I couldn't use it to style my hair.

Area recommendations
Best area to stay in depends on what you want to do. This was perfect for Fenway, art museums, and Boston College. However, if you are there for history, I'd stay closer to downtown; or if you're there for the theater/symphony, this probably wouldn't be my first pick.

“Great Hotel!!”

We were just staying the night to see a concert and wanted a hotel near the venue. Though a bit pricey it is well worth the cost. The location is perfect, walking distance to Fenway, Lansdowne St., BU, next to the T. The personnel were super friendly and helpful. Valet parking is also pricey, but it was so nice to be able to drive up and not have to worry about parking in Boston. The hotel and the room were immaculate. The rooms were really quiet. You couldn't hear the traffic at all. The temp control in the room was great. The bed was super comfortable. I don't write reviews often, but I love this hotel!!

Area recommendations
I am from the area and spend a lot of time in Boston and it is one of my favorite cities. All the neighborhoods have improved over the last 20 years. There is something to do for any interest. I feel comfortable walking around at any time of the day or night in Boston and most of Cambridge.
Getting around
Take the T to just about any attraction.

“Very Impressed”

This hotel was one of the best I had ever stayed in Boston. Great location in Kenmore Square, short walk to Comm Ave or 'T' ride to the city, room was very clean, curtious staff and great bar and restaurant in the building. Loved it and already thinking about staying there for my next visit.

Area recommendations
Kenmore Square is a great place to stay if you're visiting Boston. Very convenient to the city and public transportation not to mention Fenway Park being right around the corner.

“Fun, lively neighborhood.”

This hotel is next to the ball park so there are many fun bars and cafes to walk to. The hotel is associated with a fine dining restaurant Eastern Standard, and you can get room service from that restaurant. I particularly loved the building because it felt like one of the charming brick neighborhood apartment buildings rather than a hotel. At the same time, the decor is very new and modern. Plus, the heating and cooling system worked perfectly and did not make a lot of noise. That is a big issue with me. I travel alone a lot. I was alone on this trip and would recommend it for a single traveler. I would also return here, if I had to set up a conference in Boston. It was an excellent hotel and although not cheap, certainly not over the top.

Area recommendations
Well, as I said, this neighborhood is fun. I do not know Boston all that well.

“best hotel near Fenway”

Great location for the ball field. An easy 5 min walk to the game and great bar on site. Right outside the door is the subway stop to get to the north shore or down town.

Area recommendations
If you want a great room and location for the Red Sox this is your place.

“Great Night in Boston”

Luxurious hotel a stone's throw from Fenway Park. Very helpful staff, answering your every question. Rooms are clean and spacious. The only things I would add is a complimentary breakfast and a more recent DVD collection (already impressive).

“Boston's Best Hotel”

Hotel Commonwealth was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Although it was on the high end in terms of price, everything about the hotel was absolutely top notch. Beginning with the ease of the valet service and moving through to the door man, bell hop, front desk, concierge and housekeeping, every encounter was a delightful experience. The owner/management of this hotel should be very proud of their employees and the impeccable, friendly service everyone provided.

Area recommendations
I loved the location of the Hotel Commonwealth as it was within walking distance of Fenway Park and the Charles river, as well as many shops and restaurants.
