The bed and breakfast is clean and exceptionally convenient. A good value for the cost.

Great location near HarvardPosted Nov 14, 2013
The single room would have been frustratingly small for a long stay or if I had been spending a lot of time in the room, and the arrangement of the bed made it difficult to sit in bed comfortably - no headboard. I would consider getting a double if I were staying longer. But good mattress and very comfortable for sleeping, which is most important. Breakfast was fine, and it was nice not being in a large impersonal chain hotel.

Good simple accommodation in an excellent locationPosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Staff were very friendly, and the vegetarian food in the breakfast room was good -- not just breakfast but coffee and cake in the afternoon.
Cons: I knew my room was going to be cheap and cheerful, but the position and size of the bed made it seem a little cramped.
Location: Very convenient for Harvard University, and fairly convenient for Harvard Square.
Given that I needed somewhere very close to Harvard University at short notice on a low budget, this was an excellent choice. This was more like a Bed and Breakfast in England than anywhere else I have stayed in the US -- in fact, maybe the only place I have stayed without en suite washing facilities other than "hostels" -- but it was bigger than any English B&B. That maybe made it a little institutional, but had the big advantage that there was a reception desk with someone on it all night. The staff were very helpful to someone who arrived a bit late and had to leave VERY early.

Excellent budget option for Harvard visitorsPosted Sep 9, 2013
Tiny, bare-bones single rooms that are very clean and comfortable. Lovely continental breakfast. Friendly staff, cozy building. Highly recommended for budget travelers.

Friendly and clean, but tiny roomsPosted Sep 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was my second stay at the Irving House. The staff is friendly, location is great and close to Harvard Campus, the breakfast is good, the hotel is clean and the rooms are TINY. Like, first year dorm room tiny. For the price I paid for this room, I would not have expected to be able to touch both sides of the room simultaneously. (I am only 5'3"). Great place, but tiny rooms.

I stayed for one night while dropping off my daughter at MIT. The breakfast was very good, I especially enjoyed the bagels and coffee.

You can feel the Harvard vibe here! Very cosy - meaning a bit old and small rooms. Really excellent breakfast! (nice for Europeans to not only get muffins with no expiry date)
