Great redo!

Pros: the comfort of the rooms, very nice and helpful staff and great location
Location: In the middle of best shopping in town. one of the best steakhouse right across from the hotel.
The Loews Boston is now such a different and nicer hotel since all the rooms were redone. Very pleasing and comfortable place to stay in Boston and in a great location.

Unforgettable!

Best hotel chain ever! If you want to feel like the only occupants at the hotel and get 5 star treatment and 3 star prices this is the place. I won't stay at any other hotel chain if I have to. I hate to call it a chain because it really shouldn't be in that category. It's amazing.

Great hotel in a central location

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: the friendliness of the staff, Location, comfy bed and cleanliness
Location: Close to Boston common, shopping, restaurants, trains and only a 30 min walk to the harbour front
Staff were welcoming and very helpful. I was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at noon and were actually able to get into our room right away. I had pre-requested a fridge and it was brought to our room within 10 min of checking in, without me have to call and ask about it. Loved the free self serve coffee bar and big screen tv off the lobby. Rooms were nicely appointed, clean and modern. Good sized smart tv in the room. The free wifi was appreciated. Enjoyed breakfast and lunch in the precinct restaurant located in the hotel. All in all a we had a great 3 night stay and I would stay at this Loews in particular, and try a Loews hotel in another city the next time we travel.

Nice could use some tweaking.

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Concierge, restaurant, cleanliness, Kerig in room.
Cons: Lighting in rooms, add small frig in room.
Location: The park, Trinity square, John Hancock building, back bay area.
Overall we had a good experience during our stay. There were a few things I would change. The lighting was odd and to put the bathroom light on we had to turn a very bright room light on, which was not good if you used the bathroom during the night and the bathroom vanity area lights were very low. Also, between one of the beds and a wall with a window was a chair blocked you from getting to the light in the corner of the room and the window and was shoved in so tight you couldn't move it. The restaurant food and service was very good as well as the Concierge Heather who was very professional and made us feel at home. I would have liked a small frig. The Kerig coffee machine was a nice touch.

Fantastic hotel in superb location!

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Location: Wonderful location next to the Theatre district, only two blocks from shopping, 10 minute walk to Boston Commons or St. Charles river walk.
This Loews hotel is in a historic building, formerly a police station located in the Back Bay area/Theatre district. It is more like a boutique hotel, smaller but high end amenities. The room was wonderful and luxurious. Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. There were plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance. We went to the historic armories building/castle which is now Smith & Wollensky. Amazing building and history! I would highly recommend this hotel!

Central Boston Hotel.....Close to most attractions

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Location, smart rooms and free WiFi.
Cons: Noise in bar area at nights could be particularly annoying. Better sound proofing may work.
Location: Ideal location for attractions. Fenway Park, Swan Boats in Boston Public Garden and Frog Pond on Boston Common. Freedom Trail and Public Transport.
This was not our first visit to Boston but our first time in the Loews Back Bay hotel. The hotel is in a central location within walking distance of a lot of attractions, Freedom trail, Swan Boats, Fenway Park etc. Hotel was comfortable, we did eat breakfast there once, pricey but good quality. As others have said in previous reviews try "Flour" bakery and sandwich shop. So we did and were not disappointed. Friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices. The hotel seemed to be constantly busy and was also used by office workers (i assume) calling in for an after work drink. This made for a very noisy lobby and at time rowdy atmosphere ,the noise could be heard from our room on the sixth floor! However, I would recommend this hotel for a city break in Boston.

Great location and quiet place to stay.

Had a great time in Boston. This was an excellent central location near subway stations and walking distance to many of the local attractions. The general area is relatively quiet. The hotel is in a historical building and has a nice restaurant and bar area.

Nice location, bad experience

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Customer service
Location: Near the Public Gardens
Overall, a bad experience. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived. This was stressful because I was in a hurry to check in and get to a wedding, but in fairness, the staff would not have known that. The room was very, very small, and there was no trash can in the room. The bathroom light didn't work, so it was very dark in the bathroom. The phone in the room didn't work. There was a second phone in the bathroom that did work, but to use it, I had to hang out in the dark bathroom. Two hours after checking in, I received a series of voicemails and texts saying there was a problem with my reservation. I was at a wedding, but the message said to call immediately, so I stepped outside, waited on hold for 15 minutes, and eventually had to call the front desk directly. They explained that they had oversold the rooms that night, but would let me stay because I had already checked in. A little annoying to have to deal with this, but I understand that mistakes happen. Then, at 11pm, the same thing. More texts about problems with my reservation. Again, I had to contact them to see if I was being kicked out of my room... at 11pm! In the end, they let me stay, but the experience was a headache. I don't see a reason to go back when there are plenty of other nice hotels nearby.
