“a lovely stay”

A very well maintained historic Inn within an easy walk to Harvard and Porter Squares. Both public and private rooms are well designed and furnished with attention to period details. The breakfasts were very good and the staff friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.

“Fine, but not worth the price”

Good location, walking distance to Harvard Square, nice neighborhood. Close to Simon's coffee, a great place. Fireplace was nice. Breakfast is quantity over quality. No elevators, so if you have lots of luggage or have problem going up and down the stairs to the third floor, may want to arrange something. The walls are thin, so you can hear the guests next door talking on the phone/watching tv. Amenities were nice but were not refilled for guests staying for consecutive nights. The room on the top floor was cold, and the heater made very large sound whenever you turn it on. The decor is so-so unless you are into seeing series of American flags. The staff are rather apathetic, one girl was into her laptop sitting at the center of the dining during tea time, and only looked up when the poor guest arrived stumbling in with his suitcases and was standing there at a loss. Overall fine, but not worth what they charge.

“A lovely choice in Cambridge”

The Mary Prentiss Inn was a wonderful refuge on a hot, sticky Boston day. While maintaining obvious historical connections, the Inn offers excellent modern amenities: airconditioning, comfortable bed, powerful shower. Our tea and cookies afternoon snack and full breakfast in the pretty garden were delicious. We will definitely return.

“Historical Inn with updated Amenities”

I highly recommend The Prentiss Inn! The place was very charming, inviting, and the management was very accommodating and helpful. We even got a great last minute deal!

Area recommendations
We initially wanted to stay in Downtown Boston but with the high nightly rates and lack of parking (or high expense of parking), we figured we could find something more affordable by traveling 5 mins outside of the city.
Other
The Inn serves a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning AND they have tea and snacks in the afternoon for all of the guests.

“Excellent value”

The overall experience was first-rate: A beautiful house (1843) sufficiently renovated to provide modern conveniences, but not so much as to destroy the character of the place. Clean, quiet and comfortable! Only nits to pick: Location is on Mass Ave. midway between two T stops requiring a 5-block hike or bus ride to the train. Breakfast (included) could have been a bit warmer. Nonetheless, given Cambridge pricing for rooms, this is an excellent place to stay.
