I would recommend to stay here to anyone like myself that is visiting Boston for the first time. The guest house is located close to everything and it's in prime location. Very friendly staff and you feel like you are in your own home.

Charming and elegant.

Pros: Beautiful old building; cozy sitting room looking out onto Newbury Street; excellent croissants at breakfast.
Cons: The continental breakfast lacks cereal.
Located in a beautiful brownstone in one of Boston's most fashionable neighborhoods, the Newbury Guest House is cozy, comfortable, and utterly charming. I absolutely would stay again.

Extremely comfortable, warm, & friendly - a keeper

Pros: It was the perfect blend between historic and modern. The staff was great. The room was exactly right. The food was delicious.
Cons: Wished we had been able to eat lunch or dinner in their restaurant, because of the food quality, not the discount coupons. Didn't have enough time.
Location: On Newbury Street, on the north (lefthand) side.
We were thrilled to be able to check in a little early, because we badly needed to relax and warm up, not to mention catch up on some sleep. A short nap was perfect before meeting a friend for a beer and dinner. After a wonderful night's sleep, the breakfast was outstanding, something we do not say casually or extravagantly, because we have been in gourmet food since 1982. The poached eggs were soft; the rolls and croissants spot on, as good as if one's in Montreal or Paris. And the dining room itself was lovely. My husband kept saying how he'd stay there again in a heartbeat. I was well rested and relaxed, after a terrific hot shower, for meeting folks at Harvard Medical School about working there. Every staff member was helpful, friendly, and welcoming, all hitting just the right notes. For those of you in retail, this guest house makes customers, not sales.

Great atmosphere

Pros: Absolutely everything!
This was a great experience staying at a Guest House right on Newbury Street in Boston. The d├ęcor was superb, the atmosphere wonderful and given that we had one of the glorious bay window rooms which fronted onto Newbury Street, surprisingly quiet. The complimentary breakfast was most enjoyable and to be able to obtain a cup of coffee at any time in the comfortable foyer was a bonus. We were able to enjoy all the local shops and restaurants and all so close! Great location, great place to stay.
