Perfect

Pros: Charm of 1800's. Owned by same family for generations. Very comfortable. Very nice staff. Parking there, just walk or take T system or trolley
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: Walk to Public Gardens, Boston Commons ( Shakespeare summer theater in park free ), Cheers, Charles River, Statehouse. Near rail and trolley stops.
If you want a place that is authentic old Boston and close and convenient to everything, this is the right place. The staff were always nice and very helpful. The room was lovely. Easy walk to Public Gardens/Boston Commons and Charles River. Lots of great restaurants and shops on Newbury St. to walk to. Loved Kashmir restaurant. Also great food on-site.

Nice hotel, excellent location

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: We loved that the hotel was in a very authentic "Boston" building with character and charm. Our room was tastefully decorated and roomy.
Location: We absolutely loved that the Charles River Esplanade, Public Gardens and start of the Freedom Walk were just a short walk away!
There was a minor mix up with the room we reserved/received. The staff kindly waived our parking fee for 2 days to compensate. We really appreciated being able to park the car and walk for the duration of our stay. We intended to use Boston's efficient public transportation but found that due to the hotel's excellent location, we were able to walk everywhere. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We had more than enough room for our family of 3.

This is an adorable little hotel right on Newbury St. , we only stayed a night but perfect for our needs. We had come in a little earlier than check in to go to a Red Sox Game. The staff allowed us to check in and park our cars, so we didn't have to pay for extra parking. Staff was great and the room overlooked the back alley , but was quiet, and comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again anytime I am in Boston.

I was pleasantly surprised... sometimes "guest houses" have a lot of extraneous personal belongings. This was more like a hotel. Clean rooms, no frills, friendly staff, and a better-than-average (included in the price) breakfast. The bed could have been a little more comfortable, but wasn't bad. I hadn't realized there was parking - good to remember next time. I also had a very quiet room at the back of the house - I wonder if it would have been noisy on the Newbury St side as there are nightly motorcycles that race along the street at 2AM ? I would not have wanted to pay more than the discounted rate of $225/night for a room with 1 queen bed. The location couldn't be more convenient. I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent location

We enjoyed our stay here for a number of reasons but #1 was the location, we were able to walk to the freedom trail, Fenway Park, and the Charles River. The streets surrounding the hotel were full of restaurants, shops, beautiful old buildings! The room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi and breakfast were free as well. Would return here again.

Pros: Decent room, excellent breakfast and helpful staff.
Cons: No coffee/tea in room. It was available in lounge but I was not aware of that at first.
Location: Close to lots of shops and restaurants.
Great position for exploring the lovely city of Boston.

Charming, comfortable place to stay-great location

Perfectly located in a vibrant community. Odd room numbers face Newbury Street-great for watching the bustle. Even numbers the back of the building-quieter. Lots of shops and eateries. The staff is friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Boston.

Great hotel, great location

Cons: The only downside is the rooms are very noisy. You could hear noise from other guests and their TV's.
Location: Location is perfect, could not ask for a best location.
This is a great hotel, lovely building. Close to lots of nice restaurants and shops. Best street in Boston.

Great location. Walkable neighborhood.

Excellent stay for a family of four with a preteen and a teenager. A nicely prepared hot breakfast at hotel's Roost Bistro. Loved the small intimate size of 32 rooms total. Staff accommodated a request to switch to a front room half way through our stay so that we could experience the Newbury St frontage. Enjoyed the front room a lot more...not at all noisy and the view beats the back alley's.

Not to much to say. Have been there before, stayed this time, will stay again in the future.
