Ice cream sandwiches!

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Ice cream sandwiches, daily wine reception, cute puppy
Cons: Wifi, tea maker in room
Location: Close to Italian district with plenty of restaurants. Subway station nearby so the rest of Boston is easily accessible.
Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. Wifi in room left a lot to be desired, but the ice cream sandwiches made up for it!

Nice hotel close to North End

Very friendly and courteous staff greets you and is there to answer any question and make your stay enjoyable... We enjoyed the complimentary wine hour before heading out to dinner in the North End

Excellent city centre hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Good central location within easy walking distance of the waterside attractions, Boston Common and the principal shopping streets. We have previously stayed at a Kimpton hotel in San Diego and whilst the Onyx is smaller and has fewer facilities the quality of the rooms, public areas and service achieved the same high standards. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a smaller room and were disturbed a little by the noise of the air conditioning. There appeared to be a fault with the fan which prevented the speed being reduced.

A lovely hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: It's position and the really friendly staff
Cons: I don't think anything could be improved on this hotel
Location: The location was just what we hoped it would be. As we love walking, we found it convenient for Boston city sightseeing.
The Onyx is a really lovely hotel. Conveniently situated for all the major points of interest. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The room and bathroom were spotless and we enjoyed the free wine tasting in the evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if in Boston again, would return. Well done Onyx! - we will check out your other hotels!

Great experience despite a broken foot

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: What didn't we like might be easier to answer. The staff treated us like family and could not have helped us out more.
Location: Location: Walking distance to Quincy Market where we had lunch prior to my fall Very close to TD Centre: I was able to walk there on crutches
Not enough space to tell you how great the service is in this hotel. Unfortunately during my stay, I fell while out walking and broke 3 bones in my foot. The staff could not have been more concerned. They got me a wheelchair, and ice and actually walked us up to our room when we checked in (at this time we were hoping it was just a sprain) When I was still in pain in the morning, they recommended a hospital where I received excellent care. Upon returning to the hotel, all the staff were so attentive and couldn't do enough for us. They helped me out of the cab, got me into the wheelchair, brought us more ice and everyone was asking how I was doing. That night when I just needed to get out for some air, one of the staff ran into us on his break and stopped to ask how I was doing. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Room: Loved our room, decorated very cheery, clean and actually very easy to maneuver with crutches (something I would not have thought about previously) Free Wifi, fridge in the room, not sure why people complained about the A/C because it was worked great and was not that loud Restaurant: Food was great, we ate supper there one night and it was delicious Wine reception: Missed this unfortunately After my fall, we had to check out early for me to get home to see my doctor. There was no problem with this and the Manager was more than accommodating. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again

Good choice near the trail

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Small feel, efficient, good location.
Cons: Expect the lobby and commons to be busy. It's a small space that shares many functions.
Good location for historical sites, TD Garden and the harbor. Easy subway access from the airport or to the Fenway area. Even easier once they reopen the Government Center stop.

We LOVED our stay

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: It's VERY quiet in the rooms and VERY clean. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.
Location: 5 min walk to TD Garden (Celtics and Bruins) and Trolley stops. 7-11 on same block for convenience items.
This hotel is prefectly located, with easy access to public transportation (the T and trolley cars for touring the historical sites). It is just off the beaten path which was nice for us (very easy to get to everything, even walking to many places was easy), and yet it was a little less crowded. The hotel staff was excellent, very friendly and attentive. The room was VERY quiet. We hardly heard any street or hallway noise. Everything in the room was very, very clean (and I'm very picky about this). We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Boston. This hotel is the first I've booked and found it to be exactly as advertised. The pictures on the site are accurate. Highly recommend.

Close to everything!

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: The location.
Cons: The lobby/bar area is not very inviting.
Location: Easy access to all Boston attractions.
Took the T from the airport and walked a block to the hotel. The main street across from the Garden had a number of homeless people begging for money but I guess that's to be expected in a big city. The hotel staff were very welcoming and seemed genuinely happy to serve. While it was a small hotel it was all we needed for a few days away. The rooms were clean and updated and the beds were extremely comfortable. We walked to Quincy market, the North end, the Boston Public Garden, Beacon Hill as well as the T station and found the hotel to be perfectly situated between them. We'll be back!
