"Anniversary Getaway"
We were staying at The Langham for our anniversary. We wanted a night out in the city. Parking in the garage right beside the hotel was convenient. They validate it, so you only end up paying $12. Our room was not ready when we arrived so we waited in the lounge and had a drink. The service was very good and the couch very comfortable. The lounge is very pretty and a good place to people watch. However, after 45 minutes we checked in again at the front desk to see the status of our room. I was told 5 more minutes. My husband got another drink and we waited another 30 minutes. This time he inquired and was told the manager was checking it over to make sure it was ready for us. We were able to check in shortly after this and leave our bags, as we wanted to get to Fanueil Hall and walk around/shop before dinner. The manager did call up to apologize, make sure we were happy with the room and tell us she was sending up 2 complimentary passes for breakfast, which we did appreciate. Overall we had a nice stay and loved the convenient location of the hotel, as we could walk to FH, dinner, etc. I just wished they had initially told us it would be over an hour wait to get into our room. We would've left our bags and gone for a walk. However, we were happy they were apologetic and gave us free breakfast. We had a nice stay and would definitely come back.

The staff was wonderful. They were willing to stop whatever they were doing to take us to whatever we wanted in the hotel, if anything they may have been a little too solicitous.

"Amazing Service, Luxury without being Gaudy!"
This is a beautiful hotel with a modern feel without being gaudy and weird (hello W hotel). I love a hotel with clean lines and a modern touch but still luxurious, and that is the Intercontinental Boston! I had a corner suite and loved the layout of the room. The bathroom was also very luxurious. What impressed me most was the service! Friendly faces from start to finish. The check-in was quick and painless, which was important seeing that I arrived from the airport at 11pm and was exhausted. I ordered room service when I got up to my room and it was great. The late night menu was abridged but still plentiful. I stayed at another hotel recently (a 4-star luxury resort I won't name) and their late night menu was a bowl of soup, a couple of cold sandwiches and a salad. Very disappointing. At the Intercontinental, the late night menu offered many hot food choices! The service was speedy with my piping hot hamburger, truffle french fries and glass of prosecco arriving in about 20 minutes. The food was delicious! My room cleaning was timely and good as well. Lastly, I had a mani-pedi at the hotel spa during my stay and had a lovely experience. I called when they first opened and they were able to accommodate me just a few hours later. The aesthetician was extremely friendly and attentive and is only scheduled to have one client at a time so she was fully engaged with me. This was my best hotel stay in a long time and I'll be back next time I'm in Boston, no doubt!

    When to Visit Boston

The summer months of late May through late September, with daytime temperatures between the high 60s and the low 80s, are the most popular time to visit the city. The electrifying fall foliage is at its peak in mid-October, and the crisp and sunny fall days are perfect for walking the Freedom Trail. Because of the modifying effect of the Atlantic Ocean, the winters can range from moderate to cool with an average low daytime temperature of 22 degrees. It’s perfect for skiing and other winter sports, and Expedia.com can get you the best rates on ski resorts near Boston.

    Where to Start

The museums alone feature a wealth of exhibits, starting with the Museum of Fine Arts. Aside from Paris, it hosts the biggest collection of Monet paintings as well as the biggest collection of Japanese art, next to Japan. Kids love the Egyptian exhibit where they can see several mummies and tombs, and the museum has many paintings of famous Revolutionary War heroes. Another top attraction is the MIT Museum. It has changing exhibitions and hands-on activities in science and technology, architecture and design, and holography.

After visiting the indoor attractions, you walk The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile route that passes 16 historical sites. The tour features guides dressed in 18th century costumes who put on a fun and interesting show with information about Boston Common, the Granary Burying Ground, the Paul Revere House, and the USS Constitution, to name a few.

    Convenient Boston Resort Amenities

Some of the amenities available during you stay at resorts near Boston include free bottled water, Wi-Fi, and newspapers. The rooms contain bathrobes, coffee makers, climate control, and fitness centers. Many Boston resorts have in-house pubs and cafes. Family-friendly amenities include childcare, video game consoles, microwaves, and refrigerators on request. Many hotels in Boston cater to business travelers with workstations featuring multimedia connectivity, ergonomic chairs, data ports, and meeting rooms.

    The Gateway

Boston really is the hub of some of the most famous destinations in the country. You can take a ferry from the harbor in the summer to Cape Cod for fun and entertainment. You can also take a ferry or bus to Salem, Massachusetts, home of the infamous Salem Witch Trials, for a Halloween celebration you’ll never forget.

When you need a break from city life, try visiting one of the beaches just a few miles away. The L Street Beach in South Boston and Revere Beach are two of the most popular. Revere Beach hosts the New England Sand Sculpting Festival for five days every July and attracts sculptors from all over the world. You can taste some delicious lobster rolls or order a clam plate at one of the many nearby eateries. It’s the oldest public beach in the U.S. and has lifeguards on duty from late June to Labor Day.

Back in the city, you can take a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery on Jamaica Plain and sample a bit of this craft brew, or visit the Boston Aquarium, one of the best in the country, in the financial district. Book your cheap vacation to Boston on Expedia.com today. We’ll arrange cheap flights to Boston, a romantic getaway for couples, or a resort stay that offers spa treatments in this vibrant and fascinating city.
