Great Room, Nice Hotel, Poor Bathrooms

Posted Apr 22, 2015
Pros: Primary room, location, staff
Cons: Bathrooms are very poor....need complete redesign
Charming, luxurious, quaint, etc....great staff.....but, bathrooms have poor lighting, no counter space, and the tiny round "facility" is for a midget tucked behind the door.

Lack of Support

Posted Apr 20, 2015
The room I rented was for $500+ and for that kind of money I expect flawless, or close to it. The overhead light(and only one) in the bathroom blew out and the staff came up to fix it. It was a circuit braker and it blew out again late at night so we didn't bother calling the staff as we wanted to get some sleep. It was difficult to use a bathroom that had no light though and trying to exit quickly in the morning made showering in the dark more exciting than it had to be. The A/C unit also was not working properly as the room became uncomfortably hot and the windows only opened a few inches. All in all not the experience you expect for that kind of money. When I explained all this to the checkout person in the morning he nodded in agreement that it was too bad - but did nothing for us. In fact he asked if he could put the $50 overnight parking fee on my credit card. Maybe a little break would've been nice? Wont be back.

Best location for a quick visit to Boston

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Some corridor noise from housekeeping and plumbing noise but it is an old builiding
Location: Very close to Newberry Street, Boston Common, great resturants in Beacon Hill, and the T. A long walk to the MFA but doable if you like city walks.
The Taj is a traditional hotel in a great location in Boston. It over looks Boston Common and some of the rooms have a spectacular view. It is located at the end of one of the greatest shopping streets in North America in my view, but it is also convenient to the T line if you need to travel further afield. Vehicle access is great and the staff are very helpful in getting you a cab as needed. The building has been extensively renovated but some of the traditional features, like opening windows and large closets, have been maintained that in my view add to the experience. I cannot comment on the food or other facilities as I ate off site and was only at the hotel overnight. It is a very comfortable place to stay.

It was our second visit to the hotel. Location of the hotel is really good for sightseeing at Downtown/Cambridge. And also very comfortable for the stay.

Great City hotel!

The Taj Boston is great if you're looking for helpful, kind and professional staff. The hotel probably has the best location in Boston, as it is right next to a beautiful park and it's right in the centre of Boston. The Taj is also very close to a shopping district, and lots of historical buildings to fit your interests. In short, I highly recommend this wonderful and charming city hotel.

The perfect location in Boston!

Posted Mar 23, 2015
We were greeted with a warm welcome and quickly spirited to our lovely room overlooking Newberry Street-one of the top shopping streets in the world! The room was immaculate and well supplied. It was quiet and restful. Staff was unflaggingly cheerful and helpful. Room service prompt and courteous. Food was delicious, well prepared in both the Bar and the always elegant cafe(this area could benefit from a little refurbishing, but still nice.) Close to everything, easy access to transportation of all kinds. Love it!
