Best location in Boston. Walk across the Public Garden and Commons to downtown and the Freedom Trail. Walk around the corner to the shops on Newburry Street. Walsk on block to the T. Fabulous staff and consierge service. All restaurant and cafe recommendations were excellent. Room style is very traditional, so if you like modern hotels, this may not be the place for you.

Nice couple of days in Boston!Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Aross the street from the Commons.Comfortable, quiet room even though we faced Newbury st.
Cons: More elliptical machines in the gym,Waited for the bell hop a half hour before lugging our baggage by ourselves to the car.Small bathroom.
Location: The hotel is across the street from the Commons and at the corner of Newbury street.Walk anywhere!
We try and stay in different neighborhoods when we visit Boston to try and get a different feel of the city.

very professionalPosted Mar 2, 2014
Cons: cant think of anything
Great place to stay and was upgraded at no charge to a room with working wood burning fireplace and complementary fire butler who brought wood to our room and got the fire started for us . This kind of service is just not herd of anymore . The staff is second to none everyone makes you feel welcome and truly at home. We will be back

Fabulous staff and great locationPosted Mar 2, 2014
Staff went above and beyond in creating a welcoming and comfortable stay. Every one of our needs were met quickly and happily. Boston Common view was very nice, along w the windows that could open for fresh air. Keruig coffee machines were available at no extra fee. Location on Newbury St was great. Highly recommend this hotel

5-star experience on the Boston CommonPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: Great location. Great service. Great experience.
This is a great hotel with a true 5-start experience on the Boston Common at the center of everything. I highly recommend the hotel. It has only one minor weakness, in that it is a old building and has few minor areas that could use an upgrade. But the staff, the quality bedding, the restaurant, all 5-star.

Wonderful Hotel experience!Posted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: I really liked the cleanliness of the hotel, and the staff is top notch.
Cons: Room was great but needs a bit of wallpaper maintenance and ceiling work by the windows. Probably not the case in all the rooms at all.
Location: Location is perfect. Across from the public gardens and Newbury Street for great shopping and dinning.
I can't say enough about the staff at the Taj. From Rafik at the bar, to Jill and Leonardo (and one other who's' name I cant remember) at the concierge desk, everyone was more than accommodating!

This is one of the finest 4 Start hotels in BostonPosted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Clean. Good location.
Cons: UPDATE THE DECOR!
Location: Great location. Location, location, location.
...a 1982 hotel review might have once read. The decor is tired. A real hotel for your parents generation. Staff was helpful, but not particularly genuine. Don't get me wrong, its not a bad hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but the plaque on display recognizing the Taj as "one of the best 4 star hotels of 2013" leaves me a bit concerned state of 4 star hotels in America. But maybe you gets what you pay for. This is a relatively affordable 4 star in the area. In conclusion, if you made your money selling large grey mobile handsets to pithy blonde highschoolers, and you want to recapture the exuberance of your mid thirties, this is the hotel for you.

Great old hotel with character and nice location!Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Location, room, bathroom, staff, lobby.
Cons: Noise level in hall, but don't know how. And more AC outlets...
Location: Great shopping, restaurants, movies, Boston Common/public Garden!
Loved everything about it, from check in to check out!! Very friendly and down to earth staff, who seemed to remember us coming and going!! Room was cozy and comfortable, though a bit noisy in the hall as is the tendency of old hotels. Otherwise, my daughter and i loved our stay!! Would definitely return!!
